I have never been able to get a tiling window manager working well under my fingers, but I just spent a bit really messing around with Niri (a "scrolling window manager") and it's pretty great

I have lived in Portland for most of my 40+ years and I have never seen a seaplane on the river
Sure! But there's this total asymmetry here, where tailors are spending way more of their time responding with bids than you are making asks. If you lived in NYC You could have plausibly texted 1000 tailors! Once everyone figures this out this will stop being a tenable mode of interaction
Right? And where but r/portland should people get to dish about this?
I think a lot of AI boosters should "solve for the equilibrium". Sure, it's cool for you how you got YOUR personal LLM to spam several dozen salesmen to get a good deal on your car purchase. But that's boring and stupid to without thinking about what the future looks like when everyone has this
I agree with that. It just doesn't make sense. Random, capricious. If there's any bias it's towards boring and stupid things
it's a bit concerning that instead of responding to obvious political incentives and moderating on some of their worst and most unpopular policies, the Trump administration is getting more and more extreme
and then there's r/PortlandOR which appears to be mostly for reactionaries
i just want to poast about the seaplane
Gotta say, the moderation on /r/portland has gotten weird as fuck. I posted a relevant article about Portland from WSJ the other week and it was immediately deleted. And now...a seaplane apparently almost crashes into the Hawthorne bridge and they have deleted every post about that?
I don't think you're supposed to do that
i have lived here my whole life, and i have never once seen a plane take off from the Willamette… …let alone do THIS. wtf.
that quote originates from an insane North Korea defender who incidentally went to school with another Korean-American I know. and of course, it makes no sense on its own terms because nobody is ever like 'Are we no better than Taiwan?'
probably like 1/800 by some measures?
Huh. I saw one and it was extremely cool but none of the thousands of people around me were going nuts or losing their shit
I know a couple lawyers who are sounding absolutely bloodthirsty
This livestreamed execution is the ne plus ultra of them doing what they can with the power they can to trigger the libs
It's not that this country has never had state sanctioned murder for mass comsumption, it's just that at some point it became taboo to say that you wanted to actually see a lynching, but our current government is trying to get rid of that taboo and take America back to its roots.
Kind of crazy how the word "perovskite" is never mentioned in this article, even though that's what these panels all are and is the term of art used in solar manufacturing. Are they trying a rebrand and just calling it "tandem" instead of "silicon-perovskite tandem"?
