Unboxing Video: Chicago ’68 from The Dietz Foundation. theplayersaid.com/2026/10/11/u...
I just backed An Infamous Traffic: Second Edition on @kickstarter.com www.kickstarter.com/projects/col...
For the next livestream on Homo Ludens I'll chat with @colewehrle.bsky.social about the second edition of An infamous Traffic. We'll be live on Wednesday, 9pm French time, 3pm EST, a perfect opportunity to ask all your questions and have a sneak peek at the game 👀💨

THE CHEATED PLAYER: The core of the argument in my new book is fairly simple. Over the last 50 years of neoliberal financialized capitalism, individuals have been tasked with recasting ourselves as competitive speculative players, striving to make the most judicious investments in a merciless game.
Just checked in with the publisher. We’ll get late pledges up and running soon!
I believe the KS campaign is allowing late pledges: www.kickstarter.com/projects/die...
We did it! "The Nights of King Ludd" will makes it way to backers in 2027. Made by human hands and minds, never AI. Deeply grateful for everyone who pledged, played, and supported the project throughout. I hope you enjoy it as much as I enjoyed making it!
“As the Liberty lads o'er the sea
Bought their freedom, and cheaply, with blood
So we, boys, we
Will die fighting, or live free,
And down with all kings but King Ludd”
― Lord Byron

Really enjoyed this one!

Reading @danthurot.bsky.social's criticism inspired me to design my own games and to make them as plucky & idiosyncratic as befits their subject matter. King Ludd, he writes, is "a challenging, thought-provoking rumination on an oft-misplaced history ... Stark, sobering, and sometimes hopeful."
@colewehrle.bsky.social's designs have been massively influential on this game, esp. JoCo & Pax Pamir. Cole and Drew have been kind enough to play various early iterations; "If you're interested in early modern labor politics or want to try your hand at smashing a stocking frame, check it out!"
@fredserval.bsky.social is a known entity 'round here and my favorite youtube host / historical game designer / shit stirrer on the internet. Fred sez: "Organize a workers’ movement, smash some machines, and perhaps destroy capitalism along the way, all in one box? Count me in!"
I met Ashlyn Sparrow at the Medievalist Design Games symposium at UChicago. Ash is an assistant professor of Cinema Media Studies and a brilliant (& hilarious) play tester: "The Nights of King Ludd is such a neat little collaborative game with just the right amount of crunch."
4 more days to go on the Kickstarter Campaign for "The Nights of King Ludd: The Luddite War on Industry 1811-?"

In the comments I share some impressions of the game from the first players to engage with it.

Looking good!

It’s right there in the title:
Two demos of Painkillers at OFJH so far. Both went well. This game is a difficult experience for players, but it delivers the argument I want very effectively. I’m very excited to show its full visual presentation soon.
