As always, I’d like to remind everyone that when you fight in public, you make it very easy for the feds to understand how to start and keep fights going within the movement So be thoughtful!!!!!

People also cant believe there is such a thing as “cell rent.” 41 states have it & even if you leave early states like FL make you pay the TOTALITY of your original stay. One Black woman was billed $127,000 ($50 a day for 2,555 days) for the full 7 years of her sentence despite only staying 10 mos

She Only Served 10 Months Behind Bars. Florida Still Slapped Her With A $127,000 Bill.
Under Florida's "pay-to-stay" law, inmates are charged $50 for every day of their sentence—including time they never spent incarcerated.

I can also tell you that the Library of Congress’s Twitter Archive is not accessible by researchers. (They make it explicit on the page where you can apply for digital research funding)

I saw the Bayeux Tapestry today. Despite the somewhat rushed experience, it is truly awe-inspiring to stand before something so old, each stitch placed by the skilled women embroiderers of a conquered people, and preserved and cared for by generations. It's astonishing that it still exists at all.

It’s been such an honor to work on this story for the past 5 months. A young Norwegian, Steffen, was trying to cross Canada on foot and with sled dogs. His dogs survived; tragically, he did not. www.nytimes.com/interactive/...

After seeing Psalmayene 24’s staging of "Measure for Measure" at the Folger, John Stoltenberg of DC Theater Arts left the theater, "overwhelmed by the brilliance and power of his production concept: setting the play in the segregated American South in the 1950s."

"To Hear Her Speak" (opening Oct 16 at the Folger) explores how Black women have engaged with Shakespeare’s work over hundreds of years through literature, performance art, fashion, and activism. Take an early look at the exhibition courtesy of @washingtonian.com: washingtonian.com/2026/10/05/a...

I got a message this morning. Someone bought "But Then She Came Back", played it, and said it made them realize they were being abused and leave that relationship. I am profoundly moved that something I made helped someone in that way. Been sobbing since I got the message.

AI doesn't "bring the archive to life" or to even "show what this looked like in color." The medium is the message, in the sense that there is never life in a photo, there is a material object with artifacts that memorialized technology as much as any moment. It's all more imagination avoidance

Bad cold, but no worse than that. Proof of life: masked up and went to see Artistic Fellow Chase Brantley give his Folger “Cocktails & Conversation” playful presentation on the history and current practice of clown. Play’s the thing, you know?

Chase Brantley speaks to an audience. On the screen is a slide that says “RULES OF PLAY(PART 1)” in white all-caps on orange background. He is wearing a ball cap backwards, a boxy yellow canvas jacket, khaki pants, and white tee. The room is wood-paneled.Chase Brantley speaks to an audience. On the screen is a slide that says “WHO AM I?” in white all-caps on bright blue background. Also on the slide his chase dressed in a “traditional” clown costume and white face paint, holding a martini class with chattering teeth. The image has a universal “NO” sign superimposed in red. He is wearing a ball cap backwards, a boxy yellow canvas jacket, khaki pants, and white tee. The room is wood-paneled.
