Imagine you live in Gaza. Tomorrow, you're lucky enough to get internet and charge your phone. Already a victory. Then you open the news and read that the entire world is condemning Russia in the strongest possible terms for violating the new ceasefire. Imagine how that feels.

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 6:26 PM

Clarification: As reported by Al Jazeera on October 8, the US proposal included three steps: an energy ceasefire, reopening the Black Sea grain corridor, and trilateral US-Russia-Ukraine talks. Trump's latest announcement mentions only the energy ceasefire. The other two remain unresolved.

While everyone celebrates a potential ceasefire, Ursula von der Leyen adds a condition nobody mentioned: protecting global food supplies. Neither Trump nor Zelensky raised it. Perhaps she has her own conditions. Or perhaps it’s an AI-generated post (as many of hers seem to be lately).

Democrats will most likely win, but that money isn't coming back overnight. If it returns at all, it will take years. In short, the EU have no plan and no money.

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 1:50 PM

The EU’s entire postwar strategy for Ukraine seems to assume Democrats will win in 2028, USAID will reopen two weeks later, and billions in US foreign aid will start flowing again, just like before.

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 1:15 PM

Unpopular opinion: Reading EU leaders’ comments today, it seems they low-key want Zelensky to stop hitting Russian refineries. The EU depends on the US and was already pushed to release strategic reserves. Once again, a Ukraine moment where words don’t match the cold reality of EU energy needs.

Outrage and responses to war casualties or war crimes increasingly depend on figures provided by the parties involved, regardless of which side is hurt. Media publish unverified tolls, leaders react, and corrections rarely follow. This creates a dangerous incentive to inflate numbers.

Any victory against the far right deserves to be celebrated. Even this one 😂

Russia is the aggressor. Putin is a war criminal who must face justice. European media need some consistency. Last month, Putin was isolated, paranoid and losing his grip on power. Now, after Trump’s latest circus, he’s a master strategist manipulating the US president. Clickbait, not analysis.

Today, Ireland proposes €141 billion in cuts to the EU's next budget (2028–2034). Since 2022, Europe has mobilised €229 billion for Ukraine. Subtract the €90 billion loan, whose repayment remains uncertain, and you get €139 billion. Let's hope the EU has a plan to make Russia pay.

Today, European leaders are lining up to condemn Trump's sanctions against the ICC. In March 2025, the Court asked the EU to extend its Blocking Statute to protect it from US sanctions. 18 months later, Brussels still hasn't acted. Condemnations are easier than action.

As India slides deeper into dictatorship, jailing protesters and opposition leaders, let's dig up this beautiful post by Ursula von der Leyen.

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 1:33 PM

Important clarification: Europe’s far right isn’t rising on its own. We keep making one disastrous decision after another under neoliberal leadership Yes-men and yes-women waiting for US Democrats to regain power so they can pretend nothing happened and outsource their decisions to Washington again

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 1:26 PM

A four-post thread from Kaja Kallas on US sanctions against the ICC. The United States is mentioned once. Trump is never named. No direct condemnation, no concrete countermeasures. A remarkable linguistic performance in avoiding confrontation. This is how low European diplomacy has sunk.

American oil traders can now buy Russian diesel at a discount and resell it to Europe at market prices. Once blended, its origin becomes impossible to verify physically. The US also benefits from exemptions to certain EU origin checks. Let the party begin! 🥳🍾

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 9:27 AM

Yesterday, Trump betrayed Ukraine and Europe once again. We’ve lost count. We know he lies. We know he betrays us. Yet whenever US intelligence agencies publish a report, Europe swallows it whole, without question. At what point do we learn?

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 8:52 AM

A well-deserved Nobel Peace Prize for Navi Pillay. South Africa has taught us that peace requires swallowing pride, forgiving and making concessions. The Western world celebrates that legacy while doing the opposite.

@humanrightsindex.bsky.socialOct 9, 2026, 9:27 PM

Step 1: Trump lifts sanctions on Russian diesel. Done. Step 2: Buy Russian diesel, repackage it, and sell it back to Europe. It’s coming. It’s as obvious as it gets.
