Lmfao one major complaint about Bradford is him being unresponsive to BEY constituents since heβs been too busy running for mayorβ¦ It looks like his team is so disorganized they canβt even give out lawn signs right
With our current costs, 1 billion could build 1 km of subway or run 8 months of TTC service ππ
Neighborhood vigilantes are making their own crosswalks, bus stop benches, and DIY bike lanes. Not everyoneβs happy about it. www.vox.com/future-perfe...
I laugh when people say Chinese HSR stations are overbuilt. They are now the busiest intercity rail stations in the world.
They already restored a vehicle lane west of clissold under the rail bridge while keeping a bike lane, but yea itβs gonna have to merge east of Royal York

Including the Gardiner east realignment totals in the billions π€π€π€ Whats ridiculous tho is that it only carries 7% of commuters getting downtown at AM peak in 2011.
BREAKING: New City data shows #RoadSafety changes on #BloorStreet West are working!
1. 75% fewer serious injuries & deaths
2. Less speeding
3. Only 25-60 seconds delay per km
4. Delays are down since 2024!
5. Over 150% more people cycling

I do love all the before and after pics of river daylighting like that Korean city example. The street I pedestrianized in Toronto, church street used to have a river run under it and was paved over. I wanted to bring back some sort of water feature or mural to acknowledge and remember it.
Agree Iβd prefer to see the Gardiner expressway gone, I supported the removal option when it was in public discussion a decade ago, but that ship has sailed I just wanted to show it *is* possible to successfully create thriving public spaces despite conditions like being under a hwy, tho not ideal
Go follow them! @thebentway.bsky.social
I would be honoured if I was the first person they thought when they see pylons
I mean the example I shared of @thebentway.bsky.social in Toronto is done under a freeway successfully.
Agreed it does take investment, stewardship, and regular programming.
In the Toronto context itβs already here to stay for minimum the next few decades, thereβs a multi-billion dollar rehabilitation/rebuild program approved and already happening, so Iβd rather have the space be usable and pleasant for now. The calculus may be different in other cities.
Maybe from his personal pockets cuz he manages to have 1000+ signs every election, ads, and the biggest pride floats Iβve seen.
Ah yes looking beyond short-term announcements that are practical and sustainableβ¦ Like reducing property taxes by 3% annually and providing families with $1000 in emergency assistance??? Sir where is this money coming from πππ
Fun Toronto public health ad I saw on the TTC
