So in the end, you have a show about catching Traitors where the optimal gameplay is really to eliminate your fellow Faithfuls and go to the end with the Traitor you know. Ultimately, a savvy Faithful benefits from eliminating people for "slip ups" no matter how much it annoys us, the audience.

it's more beneficial to keep known Traitors in the game to vote out near the end because if you banish them immediately, they'll just recruit a new Traitor, and you might not know who that new recruit even is. There is never NOT going to be a Traitor among you until you get to the end.
