The Trump administration doesn't get to weaponize biomedical research funding to push its political agenda onto scientists doing crucial public health research. We'll see the administration in court.

Marbury v. Madison started off as a petty workplace drama, but led to landmark Supreme Court cases like Brown v. Board of Education and Obergefell v. Hodges.

In the latest episode of our new podcast, Let the Record Show, our hosts @iammrbeat.bsky.social and Shereen give us all the juicy gossip.

Today marks World Day Against the Death Penalty. The death penalty is cruel, racist, and unpopular in our country. It must be abolished.

Tell Governor Newsom to spare hundreds of lives and grant universal clemency now.

Roughly 1 in 4 people on death row nationwide are in California. On the heels of Tennessee's horrifying second botched execution in less than 6 months, Governor Newsom has an historic opportunity to help move the country away from capital punishment.

Yesterday, ICE agents in New York shot Oscar Belgal in the neck while his son was in the backseat. This horrifying violence isn't a surprise — it's a predictable result of this rogue agency's brutal mass deportation drive. Enough is enough, Congress must stop these ICE raids NOW.

We released a new report in partnership with @amnesty-usa.bsky.social that analyzes how colleges and universities unconstitutionally targeted pro-Palestinian protestors from 2023 to today, and provides recommendation on ways to protect academic freedom.

Cream graphic titled "How Colleges and Universities Can Protect Free Speech on Campus". The first bullet reads "Protect Free Speech of All Students and ensure that campus policies on political speech are viewpoint neutral." The second bullet reads "Refuse demands from the government that undermine academic freedom". The third bullet reads "Don’t adopt vague or overly broad policies against discrimination or harassment that chill political speech". The last bullet reads "Avoid deploying law enforcement and crowd control weapons during peaceful campus protests". At the bottom there are protest signs reading "Protect Free Speech" and logos for the ACLU and Amnesty International.

Secretary Hegseth announced that the Pentagon plans to livestream the military's first execution in more than six decades, carried out by firing squad. Turning an execution into a public spectacle only exposes how cruel, barbaric, and immoral the death penalty is. We must end the death penalty.

We testified before the UN Human Rights Council about the alarming number of Black people who have been found dead, hanging, or drowned in the U.S. over the past decade. We urge UN human rights experts to investigate these deaths properly as our government continues to fail the public.

NEW: The Trump administration sanctioned the International Criminal Court hours after a former ICC judge won the Nobel Peace Prize. The Trump administration’s continued attempts to dismantle the ICC undercut its ability to investigate and prosecute atrocities like war crimes and genocide.

The Trump administration has removed crucial reporting requirements, making it easier for ICE to try to escape accountability when people die shortly after being released from their custody. No one should die because of ICE's dangerous detention conditions.

A new Supreme Court term began this week, and it's shaping up to be another busy one for the ACLU. The court has already taken up our challenge to the Trump administration's unlawful mandatory detention of immigrants, and they may hear our defenses of religious freedom, free speech, and more.

In our latest report, we identified 76 ways that the Trump administration's mass deportation agenda is making our democracy increasingly unrecognizable. We've also laid out the roadmap for the next Congress to investigate this onslaught on our civil rights and course correct.

The graphic has a quote attributed to the woman, an ACLU DAF donor reading "I donate to the ACLU every month to support our civil liberties. By giving through my DAF, my charitable funds stay invested and grow, allowing me to give more in the years ahead." There is an ACLU logo at the bottom of the graphic.

Christa Pike and Tony Carruthers' torturous execution attempts aren't exceptions, but a predictable result of the death penalty's brutality. We must end the death penalty once and for all.
