funniest part of this saga is people from the area chiming in like “everyone in park slope knows the bird is not for sale.”

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 5:58 PM

i don’t mean to pick on you here but it’s funny to ask why people are confused and then describe a patently convoluted mechanical bird dupe situation

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 5:37 PM

yeah fundamentally being like “here’s a cheaper alternative” when it’s a 15 thousand dollar mechanical bird feels very reasonable and it’s just bad luck to run into the one person in the world willing and able to buy it

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 12, 2026, 5:05 PM

doing a complete 180 every time i see a new response in the kelly clarkson/brooklyn home goods store beef. they’re both doing a really good job of arguing.

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 9:00 PM

it’s embarrassing that it took the announcers that long

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 8:56 PM

it’s not in the clip but the huddle was also suspiciously long

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 8:53 PM

the only thing you can do here is spike it, so when i saw the motion i knew we were about to witness something beautiful.

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 8:47 PM

been a long time since i saw something that stupid

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 8:46 PM

am i crazy or did NFL players start using the raised fist 4th down signal a lot more in the past couple of years

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 4:47 PM

this is why it’s so so important to be extremely rich

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 9:05 PM

buddy this isn’t some kind of rhetorical trickery, i am both white and middle eastern. please get out of my mentions with this bullshit.

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 3:43 AM

the point of my OP isn’t that you can’t find some similarities between police killings and public executions. of course you can. the point is that chiding people for treating them as distinct is silly.

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 3:08 AM

if you’re speaking this broadly then essentially all state violence collapses into one phenomenon. you can maybe draw a line between police killings and, e.g., drone strikes on fishing boats in the Caribbean, but i don’t think it’s very useful to think of them as a single problem

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:18 AM

yeah i forgot to think about whether my jon ossoff white boy season joke caused me to forfeit my middle eastern heritage, good point

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:08 AM

also, lol, if we’re going to be talking about who looks like whom, then you might want to think about who the man whose execution they want to televise looks like

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 2:02 AM

i see this argument a lot but this is an aberration in some clear, material ways. it’s only not an aberration if you treat it as an abstraction.

@notalawyer.bsky.socialOct 10, 2026, 1:18 AM

i’ve seen this take a lot today but i really don’t understand the point of it. obviously there are material differences between this situation and police murders, which makes this type of argument just feel like semantics.

What Derek Chauvin did to George Floyd was a public extrajudicial execution. Keep that in mind when you say we haven't had a public execution since 1936.
We have, actually. Many times. They're called police murders.
