Sometimes a philosophical argument changes your mind. Sometimes a description helps you see something you’d missed. I wrote about why both are important, how they get confused for each other, and the ways that can lead our thinking wrong. www.aaronrosspowell.com/3mgznkbp2xs2w
There are many reasons I should not watch a 10 hour review of the classic D&D video game Pool of Radiance. But it's a fraction of the hours I put into the game itself way back, so what harm can it do? youtu.be/k7HXFufaPtA?...
I mean, yeah. If you're 0-5 and planning to draft a quarterback, why would you switch to one now who might unfortunately win you a game or two? thescore.com/nfl/news/362...
Not sure what happened, but I fixed it.
Some of us may have written about this. www.liberalism.org/p/enshittifi...
My support for bluesky/atproto is pretty much explicitly a "political" project. It is bad for a small number of (mostly right-wing) people to literally own all the sources of media. Open-source algorithms + the ability to move your account without negative network effects opposes this.
The net's full of weird corners where you might enjoy your time more than on the biggest platforms. I wrote about how chasing a bigger audience can keep us from finding places that bring us joy. www.aaronrosspowell.com/3mrsuois6422y
Don't know. But I like 'em.
These Packers uniforms look fantastic.
Big, diverse, cosmopolitan, bustling cities are the right way to frame it. The trouble is the way social media (typically) works creates behavior norms that, if present in a city, would make the place unlivable. But I think we can fix that. www.aaronrosspowell.com/3mul5xnuuhk2k
It’s a scandal that in 2026 there’s no circular economy for sneakers. Production involves huge environmental costs. They produce nano- and micro-scale pollution with every step. And since they’re rarely repairable, they’re usually landfill-bound after a few months. All of this is a choice.

Witcher 3 Remastered is gorgeous.
Remarkable how consistently the Trump administration has adopted the aesthetics of mass shooters, from their schizophrenic social media aesthetic to livestreamed executions to masked men with long guns roaming our streets with impunity. Nihilist violent extremism as statecraft
I want to like the Discover feed, but try as I might to tune it, it insists on showing me the kind of #resist meme slop that floods facebook. Brooklyn Dad Defiant and Occupy Democrats kind of junk.
Yes. It's why I was excited to join. I'd tried Mastodon but was (and still am) skeptical about ActivityPub as the right protocol for what I was hoping to see replace centralized social media, and ATProto looked pretty neat. (And it turned out to be even more neat than I imagined back then.)
PERCEPTION - A dog barks and a gunshot echoes off the walls of some distant building. A woman's voice... SHIVERS - REVACHOL FOREVER.
It's early, yes, but as of right now Ossoff is the clear 2028 frontrunner, right?
I came to be anti-death penalty when I was still a Republican but man, Trumpism is just absolutely corrosive to any sense of virtue
“We must collect only the elite human beings” is a recipe for oligarchy and stagnation. An open society welcomes everyone who wants to try, and it knows that we need the contributions of more than just the already established rich people.
