(It’s actually nerve pain. As always.)
Can’t sleep, character’s unrealized yearning will eat me
Character: this girl infuriates me. Why do I want to be in her presence? Me: good news—lesbianism exists Character: men are so dull, aren’t they? But oh, it would be lovely to be loved Me: good news: lesbians Character: I can’t stand this woman. I wish to know her inner thoughts Me: GOOD NEWS
Imagine a cookout and you wind up chatting with a fictional character. I love it
Cishet and nondisabled people are not ready for this conversation. They can’t handle “cishet women enjoy nonthreatening men who look gnarly because there are too many outwardly handsome men who are terrifying”, they aren’t going to be able to deal with identifying with a monster character
There’s a separate but parallel discussion about why queer and disabled people enjoy monster stories. Hint: it’s not just “monsters are sexy.”
A mystery.
“Hee hee she fucked a basket” Gee, I dunno, fellas, the basket is attentive and kind and actually cares about whether she enjoys sex instead of assuming he deserves it because he was woven with a penis?
So much conjecture about why women like romances featuring monsters, not enough asking why IRL men gotta be monstrous
I'm ace. This sucks.
And while we rightly tsk this Sahelian nation, compulsory sexuality is very real here in the West.

because people with sight disabilities asked for it, end of it's all of us or none of us also none of your business
Don’t know much about Ball or Iggulden, but not at all surprised to see Peter F Hamilton or RA Salvatore selling out their reputations (what rep they had) jumping on the genAI bandwagon.
And once again: every actual artist has stories about being hounded and pestered and micromanaged over individual pixels, by the very same people who ship absolute fucking slop that can't even spell the company's name right and which makes all the food look like it's made of bugs and worms etc.
I can’t distinguish faces. I don’t want to see pictures of things that remind me of terrible times in my life. The internet is slow. I don’t understand what I’m looking at. And most importantly, blind/low vision users shouldn’t have to seek permission for access. You should give it.
It’s not wrong to feel this. When housing has not always been assured, things become very important. I’m glad your mom and stepdad are okay and wish you all peace.
I have many, many angry bee thoughts about this, mostly the same as everyone else’s. But one of them is this—I don’t think an adaptation should be 100% faithful. A book is not a film. It’s a collaboration between a TEAM of artists, all of which are experts in their field & deserve JOBS.
I swear half our motivation to win was just “please no, I can’t listen to another diatribe about hearts followed by ‘gawrsh’”
If you read about KH1 and thought “oh, that there should be a fun little jaunt”, I don’t think you read enough about it.
I’m not talking about needing to play a game on easy mode. I do that sometimes when my PTSD is way too intense to handle constant stress. I’m talking about choosing a game and then being mad that you’re not doing well at it.
Finding out that young gamers can’t handle KH1 is mildly perturbing. Yep, there are some parts that are challenging (or just downright infuriating), but video games aren’t meant to be frictionless. Also how the fuck did I do better than you at this; I had played approximately 3 games prior to KH1
