Let me make a sort of orthogonal point: I don’t get the attacks on immigrants - that even I’ve experienced - that sound like “you came here from a bad place.” Yeah man I know. That was the whole idea of coming here. To come to a good place where you can make something of your life in freedom.
New working paper w/ @hannafolsz.bsky.social In 2025, Trump targeted US law firms for their political opposition Some firms resisted by suing Trump. Others folded by agreeing to support the administration w/ pro bono work Resisting firms took a short term financial hit but improved reputations
Uh oh, did someone’s website and personal account experience a big drop in activity after Ukraine hit a Russian data center?
Everything about the raid on Rep. Omar’s residence is shameful. Everyone involved should lose their jobs. For a start.
Executing a search warrant while early voting is underway in Minnesota, on an old, moldy "crime" is all you need to know about the motivation here. Absolutely no reason not to wait until the second week of November. It's abundantly clear that this is about politics, not a legitimate prosecution.
This is simply not generating either the volume or tone of scandal coverage that effectively ended Joe Biden's presidency when he was unable to produce a surgically-clean implementation of Donald Trump's totally unplanned & poorly timed withdrawal from Afghanistan:
KARL: JD Vance called your views 'left wing radicalism dressed in the skin suit of our religion' and said they 'aren't Christianity.' ADAM HAMILTON: I thought it was a sad statement that the VP would come here and attack the faith of the pastor of the largest church in the state of Kansas
The technical term for what Judge Reyes is doing to the DOJ lawyer in this golf course tree hearing is “tearing a new asshole.”
HAPPENING NOW: Judge Reyes is furious. She has repeatedly told the government to inform her before any major demolition work was done on the golf course. The abrupt removal of 500 trees, without notice, "has cost the government all of its credibility" in this case.
Judge Reyes' opening statement to the DOJ as the hearing begins: "I am thoroughly unamused right now."
With Ilhan Omar search: DOJ Inspector General report (on Comey's misdeeds): "[V]arious witnesses testified that the Department has a longstanding unwritten practice to avoid overt law enforcement and prosecutorial activities close to an election, typically within 60 or 90 days of Election Day."
Elon Musk was violating his visa when he started his first business here and very likely obtained his U.S. citizenship through fraud. Where is that investigation?

An important bit of immigration law which is relevant here; there is already a waiver process — Section 212(k) of the INA — by which immigrants who obtain status through fraud that they didn't know about can avoid consequences like losing a green card. So this is *even weaker* than it already seems.
And this is why Silicon Valley advertises AI taking over social responsibilities (remembering anniversaries, buying gifts, making appointments, etc). AI culture is dudes who don’t know how to function in society and want chatbots to fill in for women as partners and secretaries
Upcoming Events, Week of October 12
Speaker this week!
Republican US Rep Brian Fitzgerald tweets that he will introduce a bill to block purchases of Russian oil. Don Bacon (R-Neb) tweets that he will co-sponsor. Obviously this won’t happen during campaigning recess (and Trump could veto anyway) but interesting push-back on Trump.
It's clear the plan is to blame Ukrainian refinery attacks for high gas prices, and portray Trump as working with Putin to save both nations. And the only way to stop the barbarism is to vote GOP in November. It's breathtaking in its cynicism, and it won't work.
This seems like a very bad idea
