Right? Kids just get it. They don’t complicate it or make it political or person. Kids are also great about wearing masks if you explain it to them when they’re young and make it fun.
Thank you for masking! I’m sorry you’re treated as invisible but I am grateful you aren’t being harassed in any way.
I still get some snide comments if I’m on my own… I’ve noticed if I’ve got a guy with me people tend to keep their mouths shut. The worst is when it’s in healthcare where they really should know better!
I have that superpower too Chris!
Good grief. What did “his way” look like? I’m so sorry you experienced that. I can’t even think of a response!
Please don’t judge what you can’t understand Try and realize it’s your own fear and denial that makes you need to believe everything is “fixable”… because you can’t fathom getting sick and never getting better Disability comes for almost everyone… help us build a better world
We’re surviving in a system doing its utmost to kill us. If “wanting” to get better was all it took, no one would be chronically ill. If support showed up whenever it was truly needed, no one would suffer. If healthcare helped, we would be lined up at the hospital doors.
They’re utterly convinced that they know better about our suffering, and that if we really wanted to get better we could. We simply don’t want it bad enough. Nothing could be further from the truth. Disabled people are incredibly resourceful.
People will claim to understand. They will try and empathize. But then they say things like “if it were really that bad you would have support”. Or “you just have to try harder and get another doctor”. They don’t actually listen to us. They talk over us.
Too many people judge the disabled for what we do to survive. The truth is you can’t fathom what it’s like to live in a body that’s betrayed you. To exist in legislated poverty with no reliable help or care. To be left by the wayside to die and abandoned by almost everyone. 🧵
No one remembers this, but *everyone* took COVID seriously until the new York times reported that black americans were being disproportionately impacted (bc of less access to remote work) Suddenly masking became political
Care about worker infectious disease protection? And worker justice? Watch this webinar?
My cousin organized a series of masked concerts in NYC so immunocompromised and other covid-conscious folks can still enjoy live music events, and is raising funds so he can keep doing so!
Love and appreciation to anyone able to chip in 🙏🏾♥️
The countless people who glossed over disinformation and normalized MAHA in any way should recognize this the result of their actions. We no longer have to wonder how the Tuskegee experiments were allowed to happen. We are seeing it for ourselves.
It’s our job to ensure they aren’t successful. They’re going to drag a disabled paraplegic in front of a firing squad to be killed with the entire country watching. Do not watch. Speak out. There is no humane way to murder someone. Abolish capital punishment.
They know that Pike’s case will result in more opposition to the death penalty. They know that people are realizing it’s not civilized or decent to allow the state to commit murder. They’re hoping a public execution garners them support & satiates the public’s bloodlust.
Christa Pike was only 18 when sentenced to death. She’s been in prison for 30 years. She requested a firing squad because she was afraid they would botch the execution. They botched it & she survived. A few days later, Hegseth announces a public execution of Nidal Hasan.
This unethical vaccine study puts children’s lives at risk. Referring to kids who receive the placebo as having “lost the lottery” only confirms that those in charge know what they’re doing is wrong. They’re deliberating exposing helpless kids to hepatitis B.
Free masks 😷
