Here's my review of Truxton Extreme, a return to the vital and influential shoot 'em up playstyle of Toaplan, contained within a game that's worthy of both the original Truxton and player expectations in 2026. This one feels both familiar and fresh; it's got the juice.
we have one TV in my gym and it's always on NFL Network or American Ninja Warrior
kind of surprised that Bill Fennelly didn't retire after last season considering that basically the entire Iowa State team went "well that's enough of that" and entered the transfer portal
I do think there's going to be more of this out there than there used to be, but like with the idea that everyone is just going to emulate games instead of paying for them, I don't think the adoption is going to be as widespread as all that. People buy consoles for a reason
which is difficult to parse sometimes but it's all educated guessing based on what's out there
think my line right now is like, games where it seems that something was done to appease the suits before the dev really started vs. ones where the entire process is proudly genAI
it could be either of us, there's no way to know
I understand why we don't always say who we're mad at in social posts but it does make it difficult for me to know who we're mad at
I get emails asking to buy my stake in Baseball Prospectus all the time. I don't even have a stake in BP what are you doing
feels weirder every day that Epic used to make games I was very excited to play
autocorrect inserts itself where it isn't wanted and isn't even correct most of the time while doing it. this is a relationship that makes sense to me
yeah the ones that cops drive
I am here for all your Padres needs
did you hear? it'll start with a five this time
this is great, but one more thing that strengthens your argument is that we have seen what the Padres looked like before this. I'd much rather pay the price of 2032 or whatever than live through being excited about a 2007 or 2010 ever again
It's hard to write a story where everyone already knows the ending. I tried to put a slightly different spin on the Padres experience, which feels more and more like the thrill of skydiving without a reserve parachute.
haven't been to a Merrimack football game since they went D1 so hey, figure I'm due
think I'm going to drive down to see them play Wagner, which is maybe their best bet for a win left on the schedule? They have some pretty even matchups I can't get to & also Wake Forest and Dartmouth. The latter would be an upset W for sure and the former would get Wake Forest kicked out of the FBS
Merrimack is a top-300 team, I'll take it
even better re: the context of the era is that I assumed this was about how people got weird about whether or not she was actually attractive when she was an adult
Wolverine was such a mediocre, boring experience it caused me to spiral about the Cinematic Video Game Industrial Complex and my job as a critic. come for me tearing Logan apart, stay for Pauline Kael and Roger Ebert
