A movie about John's "Lost Weekend"; a movie about George's religious journeys; a movie about Paul around the Beatles' breakup; a movie around Ringo filming 'A Hard Day's Night'. I could see that kind of approach working. If it's just "four movies about the story of the beatles?" Huge meh for me.

Have we gotten a sense of what story these movies are telling? I kinda think the only way this could work is if they're doing very different time periods of each one's life, but if it's just a straight life story kind of thing ... that definitely doesn't seem like it needs four movies.

him and floyd mayweather appearing at a rally recently: EXTREMELY unsurprising!

Like i dunno my dudes, what are we doing here, doesn't anyone else find all this stuff distasteful?

but even then, we're doing stuff like this

But I dunno, I'm increasingly finding the vouyerism of our modern culture extremely distasteful and offputting. True-crime podcasts, serial-killer dramas, documentaries about bad people ... I just don't know if I really need any of this stuff.

But with Tyson, there does seem to be an element of, "Well, after everything he's said and done, he's still famous, so I guess everyone just has to accept that." Honestly, it's probably Todd Phillips' fault.

There's also something about the culture of boxing specifically and sports more generally where, even pretty monstrous behavior just gets shrugged off or explained away via euphemism. See: Floyd Mayweather still being a gigantic draw and superstar.

I'll confess to finding Mike Tyson's continued presence in our cultural lives discomfiting. If you just kind of never go away, eventually we'll just sorta collectively shrug anything off (See: OJ Simpson's re-emergence as a twitter personality toward the end of his life)

When Grammy-winning musician Rhiannon Giddens begins playing “Old Corn Liquor,” a traditional Black American folk tune, acclaimed Chinese pipa virtuoso Wu Man recognizes similarities to Chinese pentatonic music and spontaneously joins in. The joy on their faces says it all.

yeah, signed it right before his best season as a hitter. Looked great then!

.215/.268/.284 over a three year span is crazy

@cptowers.bsky.socialOct 15, 2026, 6:25 PM

how does ke'bryan hayes still have three years left on his contract

@cptowers.bsky.socialOct 15, 2026, 2:44 PM

would "bought it at the five & dime" count from "Summer of 69"?

Michael exonerates Kevin Cash for pulling Blake Snell five years ago. To be honest, I thought it was defensible at the time because Blake Snell is Blake Snell—he's a five-and-dive starter! We know who he is! IMO the main reason people criticized Cash is lingering anti-Moneyball anti-intellectualism.

Blake Snell is the second pitcher in MLB history to give up a homer on the first pitch he threw and the last pitch he threw in a postseason start.

The other was John Smoltz on October 12, 1991 - also in Game 3 of the NLCS (a game Smoltz still w…

So, after all of the “Analytics ruined the Red Sox season because they pulled their starters too early” takes, are those same folks gonna talk about Dave Roberts leaving Snell in for the seventh inning and costing them the game? No, probably not? Okay!

Here’s a wild thought: Think about how hopeless this Dodgers lineup would feel right now without Kyle Tucker. He is the only player on the team with both 1) an OBP over .300 and 2) at least one XBH in the playoffs.

Extremely hard to even make the case for Kittle>Kelce.
