"Federico" has been working in Brawley CA for 35 years. He is proud of his UFW contract. "We have insurance coverage for our whole family thanks to the unión. Our union is indescribable. They help with everything they possibly can. ¡Con unión, se vive mejor!" #WeFeedYou
A foreman oversees his crew in Mettler CA. The workers are weeding a carrot field. It is intense, repetitive work that is very necessary as weeds compete for water, nutrients, and light. Thanks to these workers the carrots will grow straighter, healthier, and larger. #WeFeedYou
Now that the weather has cooled down, Gilroy area tomato workers have to start work later because the cold makes tomatoes fragile and easy to damage. "Olga" says, "Switching work times based on the weather with kids to care for is difficult, but there is no option." #WeFeedYou

Farm workers are being hunted down and the public is at risk. Representatives elected by Californians need to represent Californians. Our members are the backbone of the CA-22 district, where they have jobs and homes and families. Farm workers belong here. ICE agents and David Valadao do not.
By repeating this lawless and racist lie, Rep. Valadao proves himself either irreparably ignorant, maliciously dishonest, or both. Terrorized communities are being slandered and called criminals by their own congressional representative, who is too much of a coward to defend his own constituents.
The UFW knows from the direct experience of our members that this is not only false, it is insulting. Our impacted union members are not being asked for by name, nor are they shown warrants or any other justification for being detained. They are being stopped because they look like farm workers.
Some cowards holding elected office in CA are spouting dangerous bullshit instead of protecting Californians. We note the statement of incumbent Congressman David Valadao, parroting DHS claims that “these operations are focused on individuals with active warrants and known criminal histories”.
Widespread reports describe a California-wide "surge" through November, with agents being told to "go after anybody."
That includes our members. www.washingtonexaminer.com/policy/infra...
These farm workers are not criminals. These are hard-working, long term members of our communities, being unlawfully and violently targeted simply for looking Latino and working class. The reckless and chaotic tactics being used are a danger to public safety and in clear violation of the law.
The UFW is working around the clock to assist detained individuals and gather testimony to document civil rights violations, including people with long term legal status. In some cases, impacted workers have already been released, but others have been rapidly transferred out of state.
The UFW has been responding in real time out of our Madera and Delano offices this week. Our union members have been directly impacted, subjected to suspicionless stops, warrantless detention, blatant racial profiling and brutal arrest on rural roads serving agricultural worksites.
Warrantless stops and violent roving patrols by masked federal agents across California, especially the Central Valley, have been terrorizing farm workers for the past 5 days. The chaos is escalating.

"Jose" starts his day picking strawberries at an organic farm. After picking he goes back to crush the strawberries that have fallen to the ground that are no longer usable. This prevents pest infestations and stops fungal diseases from spreading to the rest of the crop. #WeFeedYou
It was 94° at 10am in Bakersfield CA as workers cut and packed Asian vegetables into produce boxes. This fast paced work in an open field is grueling as it means a lot of bending and by the end of the day workers tell us their back aches. #WeFeedYou
"John" is an H-2A worker harvesting apples in Western NY. "We spend our day climbing up and down ladders, filling up a 30-40lb bag full of apples. Because of the Trump wage cuts we're earning less this year than in the past for the same thing. That isn't fair." #WeFeedYou
In WA State farm workers are harvesting Granny Smith apples. Hector says, "I feel very unhappy about what they're paying us. Last year, we were paid $33/900lb bin. This year they are only paying us $30/bin. It's increasingly difficult to cover my family's expenses. #WeFeedYou
"Elena" sent us this photo from where she was working harvesting strawberries in Ventura county earlier this year. "It's very hard work. We always are bending over. As we earn piece rate we must rush to harvest as much as possible. At days end our backs ache." #WeFeedYou
Si la migra te detiene, ¡recuerda esta canción! No tienes que firmar ni decir nada. Tienes derecho a permanecer en silencio, y tienes derecho a un abogado. ¡Mantén la calma y recuerda tus derechos!
"Luz" works in the fields in Salinas, CA, packing celery. "The crew I work in averages 1,000 boxes a day with each box containing 30 individual stalks of celery. This is very hard work. I have to pack very quickly. We work for piece rate and earn $1.95/box." #WeFeedYou
