I think we’re sleeping on this card. 5 mana commander in Gruul or Gruul adjacent? Cast from exile? Flashback? Foretell? Escape? It just gives you the one, two, and three turn layup in a nice package.
I’ve begun my October horror movie watch where I catch up on all the movies I’ve missed. So far I’ve watched: Final Destination: Bloodlines 3/5 (scary but campy, nice blend of both) FNAF2 1/5 (doesn’t know what it wants to be) Obsession 5/5 Weapons 5/5 Anyone got suggestions?
If they got Meow Wolf I’d be gagged but yea is this solely internal or contracted? Feels like if they contracted outside entities they’d want to advertise that with the marketing. Slapping say Meow Wolf’s name on it would easily sell tickets.
This ^ the closest thing would be the clue inspired dinner for Murders I feel like but I believe that was a wizards internal thing
You’re welcome!
Oooh yes that is good context. Thank you!
Agreed. The timing of this seems short and abrupt. Which is why I’m interested if it will be attended. And if so, what it was like. And uh… just for cost comparison here: 11 Madison Park (a 3 Michelin Star restaurant in NYC) cost $385 for a six course meal. So… cost vs expectation comparison
TLDR: things like this are expensive to produce. Unfortunately that makes them not accessible to the general public. But is THIS the best tie in experience for the set and what was the original intention? Who knows. This is where my brain goes when I see / read about experiences / theatre. (11/11)
If this is related to Reality Fracture at all, I‘m also interested to hear about it‘s tie in. Because on paper, it doesn‘t seem that related outside the same color scheme / branding. If it were me (and hey, Wizards, I‘m available) there‘s definitely a few ideas I could come up with. (10/11)
If you end up going, I‘d love to hear your thoughts / feedback on the experience. Because I think there‘s really cool and cost efficient ways to create experiences for MagicCon goers. And perhaps this could have been something bundled under the Black Lotus badge to help with cost… (9/11)
Food and safety guidelines, DOH inspections to make sure it‘s letter grade approved, do you need to install new equipment? The list goes on and on. Why am i rambling about all of this? Because it‘s so hard to do something like this w/o it being exorbitant and that‘s unfortunate… (8/11)
„Sleep No More“ didn‘t even have food. So now you add rental cost of silverware, dining ware, tablecloths, food, food prep, food storage, sourcing, kitchen staff, are you booking a restaurant then cost of restaurant rental. Are you cooking in house? OH BOY… (7/11)
Rental cost of the space, actor pay, prop costume and set maintenance, utility costs, rights, etc etc. It just wasn‘t sustainable without the ticket price becoming so high that only the ‚elite‘ could afford the experience, which was not their intention when creating the piece. (6/11)
… which is why it‘s been dying post pandemic as theatrical producers / event producers seek guaranteed return on investment. We‘re beyond the days of experimentation for the sake of experimenting. The risk analysis is too high. Look at companies like Punch Drunk who produced „Sleep No More“ (5/11)
My concept was simple on paper but extremely complicated and expensive in execution. The script has a menu in it. And no production had ever been done cooking food live. So why not turn the play into a repeatable immersive dinner experience in NYC. But immersive theater is costly… (4/11)
If you haven‘t read or seen the play (there‘s a movie of it), it‘s a beautiful 2 act‘er with 30 characters that takes place over a lunch and dinner shift in the kitchen of a restaurant. The play‘s main themes are immigration, identify, work ethic, and shared human experiences across cultures. (3/11)
2020 : Hedwig on Broadway had just finished it‘s run which I worked on, the musical I was developing finished a choreo lab and was being shopped to regional theatre‘s, and I was developing a production like this at my fellowship in NYC. An immersive production of Arnold Wesker‘s „The Kitchen“ (2/11)
Hi hello, former assistant to a Broadway producer and theatrical producer here! So I‘m also just now hearing about this which is kinda wild since MagicCon: Atlanta is right around the corner. And I‘ve seen some back and forth about pricing (which I get) so I thought I‘d chime in. (1/11)
