Hi! I'm Katie, a traditional fantasy and fine artist in the PNW. My major focus and specialty are dragons in sweeping landscapes inspired by the PNW and the places I go.
Main 🎨: watercolor, gouache

Yeah they're pretty close! Olive green doesn't have as much yellow in it as rich green gold. I usually prefer to mix colors but I grabbed it as a convenience mix. It's basically just yellow and ivory black. I didn't think about looking at the pigments tbh, but it's a color I'll use a lot
I need to correct my ALT: The Sugilite Genuine is by Daniel Smith!
Finally added the new watercolors to my color ring! I'm already in love with these so much, they will absolutely be played with asap. Multiple photos because it's so hard to photograph watercolors well and capture all the color variation details. Colors and more info in the ALTs
My autumn wash tape collection includes twisted branches, mountain waterfalls, succulents and mysterious stone arches!
This is what I use to tape off sections in my sketchbook to make clean watercolor lines, but they're good for all the usual washi decoration too :)
And if you need any other recs or tips feel free to msg! :D
Awwww yiss! So excited to see you picking this up! I also recommend getting a little piece of non-slip shelf liner for under the block, it'll help prevent it from slipping while you cut.
Yes do take care of yourself! I can't do 8 hours of art per day that's for sure. It was a hard shift, but my work-life balance is much better now & I don't experience the fatigue I once did. If we're talking just art making (not other business stuff) I top out at around 5 hours on a good day.
16 hour days 6-7 days a week non stop is torture! Omg, I don't know how you would have been able to do that at all. It does show how so important it is to advocate for ourselves (large companies are opting for unions so that they too don't get 16 hour days for weeks on end). Just not worth it
It's sometimes so hard to know what to do in the moment, that we can only look back once we see the whole picture to be able to know what actions should have been taken. Gosh, I think we've all experienced that high-drive of feeling we have to sacrifice and take it all on in order to "make it"
Yeah I'd say update them to your current style if you feel they don't fit anymore. I'd do the same!
I'm so sorry this happened to you. It's unfair and ridiculous what so many companies demand of artists :/ Working half to death for an unguaranteed payout is awful
Doing bursts of work crunch can work out, but it's not sustainable forever! Burnout can take months or years to recover from, or worse have permanent damage. Some people are extremely prolific and able to do huge amounts of work without trouble, but I'd argue they're the minority - not the standard.
Those who say you "can't be a real (comic artist, writer, creator etc.) unless you pump out a certain number of ____" aren't saying that in good faith or with anyone's health or personal needs in mind. Only YOU can know your limits.
Please don't unnecessarily push yourself into burnout. There's a huge part of hustle culture that's extremely toxic and champions overwork, and it took me years to realize there's a difference between being productive and being self destructive.
Ahh thanks so much! :D
My newest lino block print is up!
"Dream" is my first ever series using black paper and gold ink, and wow does it make an impression. The gold is very opaque, and while not extremely shiny the contrast is gorgeous.
Haha yeah I thought I was about to have a very bad stressful day that's for sure
Ahh thank you so much! :D
This print gave me a lot of trouble, so much that I had to delay its release while I fixed the entire run!

Autumn begins to show its colors. My September lino print depicts a bronze dragon as it lifts into the sky, with branch-like horns and fluttering leaves in its wake.
This was quite an experiment! I learned a lot on this one.
