Erin so many people missed your point

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 2:41 AM

BUT EUGENE IT’S BAD THAT WE ALLOW BAD PEOPLE TO SAY THINGS ONLINE

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 2:37 AM

Got to say that I agree. Will’s post is not at all incensed or frustrated. Incredulous, maybe.

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 2:34 AM

Uhhh Josh this is called dehumanization and you should have a fucking problem with it

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 2:31 AM

Ike, you need to see what the brilliant and talented @grimalkina.bsky.social did just in the last two days: bsky.app/profile/grim...

She’s one of the founders of Pluralsight’s Developer Success Lab, an actual real live psychologist focused on software teams.

I know that I say nobody changes their minds because someone corrects them on social media but just in the last 24 hours I took multiple turns around that silly math AI study, thanks to @byarielm.fyi and @grimalkina.bsky.social - each turn leading me to learn more!

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:52 AM

Then I got recorrected by @grimalkina.bsky.social and yet I still Do not think the study is a net negative, just messsyy

It doesn’t actually show this! It shows how you ALREADY treat people in general. We don’t have any science that shows the reverse at this point - it’s too early. But we do have a lot of science that says abusing video game characters doesn’t make you more likely to abuse people or animals

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:47 AM

Lmao Dax is so funny and also right but also often hypocritical like most people

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:45 AM

Faaaaaaaaaaacts lmao

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:43 AM

We definitely have the harder road, and its an excellent illustration that “smart” often applies to very narrow domains, while “influence” unfortunately, does not.

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:43 AM

Ahh well this I agree with you on, as I’m sure you know. But of course, the problem is that it is _also_ a *very* good way to get your message out, and in fact, much of the reason for that is inherent in its design!

no one is going to personalize everything, and most people will not customize substantial amounts of the software in their lives. some people will. those people are already Linux users and customize a lot of their software. this is an argument over a thing that is not going to happen.

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:32 AM

Oh I’m gonna be as soon as Scott responds to me - he forgot I have a spaces compatible account :-p

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:31 AM

Is it? What is the purpose of Barack Obama having an account on social media? It’s certainly not to be read only by people who agree with him, or by a much smaller percentage of the population. Are we mad that the Pope has an account on there?

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:21 AM

Gotcha, the elite part caught me off guard, since in my experience people use “elites” to mean “individuals whom I think are or should behave like institutions because they have a lot of money and power”

@chaosgreml.inOct 12, 2026, 12:19 AM

Hahah same! Now it makes me want to do more Duolingo math!
