Adam Aguilar
@araguilar.bsky.social
A fantasy writer with lots of love for character-driven epics.
Congrats!
Sounds like you ended up with a steamy scene instead.
Hah, yes, that does sound painfully familiar.
KJ! Such chill vibes. Love hearing how much work you're putting into your novel.
I can see the end of Part 3 of this novel coming together. Yes, I still have Part 4 ahead, but that Part is for future Adam. Current Adam is keyed into these last four chapters of Part 3.
Awww, thanks so much! I had a great time getting to know my cabinmates this year. I hope as many as possible continue to keep in touch.
Special thanks to our counselor @goodwords.bsky.social for keeping our cabin involved.
Thanks to all my cabinmates, with a shoutout to @salazar-ro.bsky.social @lnloft.bsky.social @brookbwrites.bsky.social for swaps. I look forward to reading more from you all.
I've perhaps taken it too heart too much at times having rewritten entire novels multiple times at this point. Practice makes perfect though!
I'll go with, which bit of writing advice has stuck with me most?
Answer: Writing is rewriting.
There's a reason writing is done in drafts. You can't--and won't--get everything right on the first go-through. Like with everything, writing improves bit-by-bit.
Great prompts all camp Iris. I like how this one gives off a choose-your-own-adventure vibe.

I desperately want to post my answer to a similar question from last year. But I'll go with this instead.
My current WIP has weird inky monstrosities, but my previous novel was based on Greek mythology and had a few riffs on creatures like a chimera and Cerberus. I also love zombie stories, especially when a novel can utilize the undead in new ways.
DRAGONS!!!
That's awesome! Reminds me of a D&D Monster Manual.
Can't go wrong with dragons, and Alebrijes are a unique mention. Cool to see an underrepresented creature popping up.
Werewolves? #CRPCabinRaids was a few days back but I'm sure #CRPDirewolves would approve of this answer. Me too, lycanthropes are awesome!
100% agreed. It's always comforting to know someone has your back.
I do the same as a few cabinmates have already said: get outside for a walk to give myself time to think. I also bounce ideas off my wonderful wife who's kind enough to read everything I write and help me brainstorm.
I'm not a runner, but 100% getting outside and away from the computer itself works wonders. Just free time to think without the distractions right there at hand.
