That's a beautiful origin story!
Day 7 of our joint #revpit posts. Today I'm thanking @nicolefrailedits.bsky.social for her deep dive into FINDING GRAVITY! Her publishing experience helped me place my MS in the correct genre, which led to additional edits that I really love. My characters are fuller now. Thanks so much, Nicole!!
Can't wait to read your opening pages!
How did I become a writer? I wrote a column in an international newsletter at 10, won a statewide competition for the 1st article I ever wrote in HS, majored in writing, edited my university paper, taught HS English, my first screen name was singer_writer. In other words, a lifelong pursuit.
It's the Friday before #revpit!
Our group post for today is to post the opening line or our favorite line from our manuscript, but I'm nothing if not a rebel.
Here are several of Phoebe's more colorful descriptions.
I learned a lot about launching a brand when I opened Ash & Elm Cider Co. I'm using many of those same tools to launch my writing career.
I put some tips into this article. Check it out!

The recipe for FINDING GRAVITY:
1 Gal. ROMANTIC COMEDY by Curtis Sittenfeld
64 oz BACK AFTER THIS by Linda Holmes
3 sprigs I HOPE THIS FINDS YOU WELL by Natalie Sue
Pinch FUNNY STORY by Emily Henry
Let ferment until it reaches...oh I'd say roughly 6.5% to 7.0% ABV.
@literarylesliez.bsky.social Hi there! I queried you a few months back, but then withdrew to work on my RevPit revisions. You sent me a link to resubmit in the case you were closed when I finished, but it's not working for me. I'd love to send a query your way if there's a way to do so!
I'm so into this!!
She *is* kind of Ellish, though.
Somehow I'm even more interested in reading your book now!?
I can describe my novel's hook a million different ways, but if you want to know how it *feels*, these songs paint a picture of Phoebe's emotional journey.
Also, it's got some real bangers.

I can't figure out the answer to that question, so instead of committing to one, I bounce between the two like a tennis ball and then leave without contributing to either. :(
After a few weeks of edits during which I cut 5K words and replaced them with 5K BIGGER and BETTER words, I'm very excited to tap my new cider...er...release my new manuscript...into the query trenches at the #RevPit Showcase on June 8th! Join me?
I can't wait to meet Margot!
