Screenshot of a mock-up web interface labeled FlockOS. A red-bordered banner at the top reads: "This is a mock-up rebuilt from Flock Safety's own published code. It holds no police data—every plate, camera, and record in it is invented. What officers see in a live system may differ."

Below the banner is a navigation bar with "Search" (selected) and "Alerts," then a row of tabs: Search, Lookup, FreeForm (selected), Convoy, Multi-Geo, Visual.

The panel is titled "Flock FreeForm." Under it, two radio buttons labeled Vehicle and People, with People selected.

A yellow advisory box headed "People Search Advisory" states that only video cameras compatible with People Search will appear in the device selector, and that LPR cameras are not supported for this feature.

Under the heading "Run FreeForm Search" is an empty text field with placeholder text "Enter body, make, color, etc." Beneath it, a green example line reads: Good: "person wearing scrubs".

A bordered box instructs the user to "Use short, literal descriptions of the vehicle or person," with two bulleted examples in green: Good: "blue BMW M3 with red stripe on roof" and Good: "person wearing scrubs".

At the bottom is a green button labeled "Run FreeForm Search," followed by gray text: "Freeform searches can only be run on increments of 30 days or less. Please refine your search."

Police can search a little cultural expression, as a treat

www.wired.com/story/flock-...

Screenshot titled "What Police See When a Search Is Flagged." Subhead: Flock's code scores a search against eight categories and returns allow, warn, or block. Seven categories have block wording, three have warning wording. Religion and nationality have both.

Two columns. Left, on tan, headed "WARNED." Right, on pink, headed "BLOCKED."

Warning messages, by category:

Political, social and cultural expression: the search may relate to political affiliation or social/cultural expression, which have constitutional protections. If the officer proceeds, the search appears in the audit log and their admin gets an email.

Religion: it appears the officer might be searching religion-related terms, which have constitutional protections. Same audit-log and admin-email consequence.

Nationality: the search may contain nationality terms, which have constitutional protections. Same consequence.

A dashed box below notes the other five categories produce a generic warning instead: the search may have included sensitive terms, the admin will be notified as part of "our policy" (a link), and the search will appear in the audit log.

Block messages, by category:

Person (harmless) and sex or gender: blocked because it appears to include person-related terms, such as gender, clothing, or behavior, while using vehicle search.

Religion: stopped because it may have contained protected searches for religion.

Race or ethnicity: stopped because it may have contained protected categories including race or ethnicity.

Nationality: stopped because it may have contained nationality terms, which have constitutional protections.

Subjective: stopped because it may have contained subjective or biased terms which have constitutional protections.

Offensive content: stopped because it may have contained terms related to sexual content or innuendo, offensive words, phrases, or slurs.

Flock tells cops sometimes its software can't tell its elbow from a doorknob, and if you use it, you're on your own.

www.wired.com/story/flock-...

Screenshot titled "What Police Agree to Before an AI Search Runs," with a subhead: "An officer must accept these terms once before using Flock's written-description search."

Below is a black label reading "OPT-IN SCREEN," followed by a gray panel containing four paragraphs of terms text:

The first paragraph advises that before proceeding with Flock FreeForm Search, the search functionality is powered by artificial intelligence, and that while AI can quickly process and extract information from images, the accuracy and scope of results may vary due to factors like image resolution, camera placement, lighting, and the model's training data.

The second paragraph says that by selecting the "opt in" button, the user acknowledges results may be inaccurate or incomplete and should not be solely relied upon; the user assumes the risk of any inaccuracies and understands results are provided "as is" without warranty; the user is responsible for their searches and agrees not to use the tool in illegal, harmful, or abusive ways; and all queries and metadata are recorded for security and auditing purposes.

The third paragraph states that Flock FreeForm Search is intended to generate the most accurate results based on the search criteria entered, and that images provided in response to a search do not indicate anything about Flock or its employee's beliefs, views, knowledge, or opinions.

The fourth paragraph says that by using Flock FreeForm Search, the user acknowledges and accepts these terms for responsible use, and directs questions to an email address at flocksafety.com, with the name portion redacted.

At the bottom, below a divider, is an unchecked checkbox labeled "I agree to the Flock FreeForm Search terms and conditions," next to a grayed-out button labeled "Opt-In."
