Same with doing music. People are still discovering my stuff as they have during each era, and a lot of the old heads seem to be completely unaware that I’ve been active beyond whenever they first heard of me.

The thing about doing music journalism/criticism for as long as I have is that people encounter my work at so many different points in time. I have been covering Bad Bunny since 2016. Chances are, my byline was attached to one of the first pieces of music journalism you ever read about him (in English). It was an uphill battle getting non-Latinos to grasp how big Latin trap was getting. Even now, heads don't recognize him as a rapper.

Already fighting in the comments section over this. Bad Bunny is a rapper, a trapero since jump. He's played with genre in a bunch of ways, sure, but just because you might not understand Spanish doesn't mean he's not a rapper. He's a rap superstar.

Being GenX/Millennial is such a trip. In our lifetimes, we saw people our age getting wild criminal penalties for pirating music and now have to sit and watch as companies gobble up our work with impunity.
