Great seeing my former Library colleague Jerry Woods on Superior Avenue. He’s coming out of retirement to deliver meals to Cleveland Clinic patients and hopes to make them smile. We caught up with Lauryn Hill playing on his mini boombox.

It was great to sit down with Ryan P. Rowland at Phoenix Coffee in Ohio City. He’s collecting oral histories, pics, and info of DiFiore’s Music on Lorain Avenue. Have memories or photos of the legendary Cleveland music shop? Share them with Ryan at [email protected].

Great meeting Bill Conley as he stocked a Little Free Library in Ohio City. After 40 years in higher education, Bill retired to Cleveland Heights. Today, he helps maintain 60 to 70 Little Free Libraries, offering free carpentry and repairs. A great local giving back.

Great seeing my friend Dorothy Handelman at Cleveland Public Library. I love her extraordinary eye for capturing people. Her exhibition, Picturing Cleveland, features downtown photographs from 1976. Catch it at Main Library before it closes October 23.

Great to photograph Sharon Pan, a founding member of Impact100 Cleveland, at its inaugural Big Give in Parma. Five inspiring nonprofit pitches preceded a $70,000 grant to the Reid Wiley Charitable Foundation. Thanks, Sharon! impact100cleveland.org

I photographed my longtime friend John Greiner, better known as John G, at Ready Set Coffee in Gordon Square. We met through Brian Michael Bendis in the 1990s. I love his art, nonstop work ethic and advocacy for accessibility. shinercomics.net

At the library we have digitized an interview with him that is fascinating. He hardly ever struck out. As a kid he practiced hitting with bottle caps and sticks and feels that may have improved his eye coordination.

Always great talking with Phillip Holton, a longtime St. Clair-Superior resident and wonderful neighborhood historian. Phil was a friend of my late uncle Bill Swan, and I love sharing memories of family, old Payne Avenue places, music and the Cleveland he knows so well.

On Sept. 19, 1926, Mary Pittinger’s parents went to a Cleveland ballgame while courting. Exactly 100 years later, 16 family members reunited at a Guards game. Their letters and love of baseball live on. One more game, one more chance to cheer together. Go Guards!

Stopped at ABC Tavern for playoff baseball and met regular Robert “Bob” Conner, a Lakewood native now living in Ohio City. People kept stopping to say hello. Glad ABC and the Old Angle remain part of West 25th Street. Looking forward to a beer at ABC with Bob in the future.

Great talking with Nathan Rutz and taking his photo at the St. Clair Superior Arts Festival this summer. A neighborhood resident since 2013, Nathan is Rust Belt Riders’ Director of Soil. I loved learning about his environmental advocacy & life in the neighborhood where I grew up.
