Bethany wore a “Protect The Dolls” t-shirt during rehearsals. The BBC posted it on their socials then quietly deleted and reposted it without showing her from the front. On TV last night they actually blurred the message #Strictly

This is a very significant official acknowledgment of how Russia has messed with our democracy. Putin won’t stop until he is stopped.

The first Russian diesel cargo heading for the US left St Petersburg on September 22, two weeks *before* Trump announced the deal with Putin, Windward reports. The Greek-flagged tanker Minerva Zen carrying 275,000 barrels of diesel/gasoil is due at the US East Coast around 11–12 October.

My dad died a couple of years ago. I was looking at his old iPad today and I found a bunch of lovely family photos, but I can only see low-res thumbnails because his iCloud subscription lapsed. Are they gone forever? Can I ever get the full photos back?

My wife has been saying the same thing, but with James Acaster instead of James Blunt.

Very much an Occam's razor thing, this. It's not "pushing" people to lose social skills but it was absolutely developed by nerds (like me) as a way of socialising without needing to deploy social skills.

One thing I've noticed that Affinity does with much greater speed than Adobe Indesign is crash. Wallop, straight down like a drunk in a mud puddle, staggers to its feet, lets you redo the work it just lost and then trips over again.

Brian Blessed’s birthday is an excuse to share one of the greatest paragraphs in any memoir ever.

A paragraph from Brian Blessed’s autobiography:

So the first time I ever came into contact with O'Toole was at one of these student gatherings.
I remember it well because I'd just punched Harold Pinter down a flight of stairs.

It's a long-running reference to a Warhammer FRP thing from the late 1990s that is very funny but this margin is too narrow to contain it.

All right, which of you bumped into my wife at the London Film Festival this afternoon and told her that I had sunk your barge?

(turns to wife) Would you mind playing worse this time? Thanks.

Most important bit of the BBC streaming reporting on the Fonagty report into mental health. #FuckWesStreeting

A photo of a section of the BBCs streaming reporting on the Fonagty report on mental health. It shows Professor Fonagy talking to the BBC with the headline "Wes Streeting 'completely wrong' about over-diagnosis, says review author"

The text below the photo says:
The author of today's report, Prof Peter Fonagy, has been speaking to Radio 4's Today programme.
He starts by saying that former Health Secretary Wes Streeting - who first commissioned the review - was "with respect, completely wrong" when he talked about an over-diagnosis of mental health disorders.
