The Ojibwa/Chippewa have no particular fondness for the Lakota Sioux. My great-aunt once told my mom, “we chased those Sioux across the Mississippi.” The word Sioux comes from the Ojibwa/Anishinaabe word for “snake.” But everyone with American indigenous ancestry loves the story of Custer.
