It's very easy for anyone (but particularly women, and definitely ME) to ignore symptoms or avoid the ER.

Thank you, Diana. It really was, and very unexpected. Glad to finally be seeing a hematologist today.

Generally, there are lots of risk factors. Long flights, smoking, being sedentary, pregnancy, post-surgery, several genetic clotting disorders, a few medications, etc. It's most likely mine was from a medication, but I'm also seeing doctors to rule out genetic conditions.

Wow - such a long time to have them before knowing. You are very lucky! I also got put on heart attack protocol before they did a CT scan. The ER told me it was likely from either a very short flight or some meds I had been on for decades - my doctor doesn't agree. Seeing a hematologist soon.

Glad you are improving. It's wild how different everyone's recovery is - very grateful for reddit because I had no one else to talk to about it. I've been on xarelto, still sorting out the why of it all.
