@europaeditions.bsky.social has been a solid source of Japanese literary fiction in translation, introducing authors like Mieko Kawakami to the English-speaking world.

I'm not the only one who will no longer review or promote their editions if they're being translated by AI.

I’m sorry you can relate. I know I have much bigger problems and I miss much more important things. But every year I think “maybe I’ll be well enough next year” and … I’m not. I mean. My parents, spouse, and teen are out in the family room chatting and I’m not well enough for that either 🤷‍♀️

Tomorrow is a local bookfest. I went the first year I lived here and it was great! The next year was 2020 and it was canceled. I’ve been too sick since. Every year it makes me sad.
