Here it is, the cover of the paperback edition of my book, Breaking: How the Media Works, When it Doesn’t, and Why it Matters. Now featuring some snazzy quotes!

It’s out on August 27.

if this was a real thing of substance, the only correct course of action would be "i am now engaged in talks with our european partners to reverse this disastrous event and will be prosecuting every politician who was given this exact information but proceeded to ratify the fraud"

You can’t really understand yourself from your own choices. I suspect most of us don’t even know what those choices would be. We measure ourselves by our varied reactions to fixed culture. And we can discuss that between ourselves, to understand one another. Anything else is thick as mince.

If this film didn’t exist, the response to the film would itself legitimize the existence of a film like this. www.haaretz.com/israel-news/...

Did a bit of pumpkin painting with a pal and think I fixed it

A pumpkin painted as the famous Irish Samhain turnip carved head.

Why on earth does this BBC piece on Burnham telling an interviewer the UK security services confirmed Russian interference in the Brexit referendum require a response from a pro Brexit pressure group? It's literally our Prime Minister telling us about election security. It's nothing to do with them.

The prime minister told The Rest is Politics podcast that upon arriving in No 10, he had asked about possible Russian interference in the 2016 vote, adding: "I've had the clear answer that, yes, there was."

"I think we've been too much on the back foot on that actually and we haven't informed people sufficiently about the extent to which people are seeking to disrupt the political process from overseas," he added.

Burnham did not provide further details about the type or extent of Moscow's activity during the Brexit referendum.

Britain Unbound, a pro-Brexit campaign group, said Burnham's comments were "another crude attempt to undermine the legitimacy of the decision that the British people made in 2016".

It said that foreign interference in UK elections was "obviously unacceptable" but added: "There is no good reason to believe that Russian intervention influenced the outcome of the referendum in 2016.

There was a listing for an appearance before Judge Michael Roques on September 30 at 10.30am. As far as I know case listings don’t stay on court sites passed the day they happen but I could be wrong. The reports suggested a trial at Oxford Crown Court next year

That’s so shit.

@brokenbottleboy.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 7:52 PM

Doesn’t surprise me either. I’ve seen it happen many times. Still worth pointing it out.

@brokenbottleboy.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 7:45 PM

Maybe. But the information that she’s been charged is out there now.

@brokenbottleboy.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 7:41 PM

Yeah. A dose of that in there.

@brokenbottleboy.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 7:35 PM

Yes, it was urging him to “come clean” about his living arrangements.

@brokenbottleboy.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 7:32 PM

And the Telegraph piece appears to have been deleted too.
