BRAPA - British Real Ale Pub Adventure

That’s the one. Master butcher of Leigh on Sea !
I’m in the yellow but wait til I get back to my air BnB Mark 😱😆
Pub 3362, Seven Stars, Bristol. Proper gig filth box, I like. Bridge City Sinners next door. Tempted to join but sold out n bowels aren’t mosh friendly. Great chat with Steve n Tracey from Stone. And if you’ve ever been to Stone, you know how bonkers they are 😆
Pub 3361. Backwell Village Club, Backwell. Fell asleep on bus, heard a bing and ‘Backwell’ so pressed button too early and had a long walk. Chirpy landlady, snooker clinks, £2 surcharge for being a northern nob, beer top hole, introduced to cellar man (he looked confused).
Pub 3360. Siren’s Calling, Portishead. Drab marina side modern goldfish bowl, below par pint of Bristol Tavare . Plus points the loos smell like a freshly opened box of 1988 Quality Street. And a snuggly dude returns my dropped fiver.
Isn’t it? 😆
Pub 3359, Settle Inn, Portishead. Kind Irish landlady reads my mind. Too many dogs (5!) in a small space. Stinks. Told her I’m campaigning for more pub cats. She ain’t convinced. One beer left. Barrel. Good. Sat twixt outside and in. Heated. Bowel update? Tolerable. Elvis mate, BEER guide.
Post emptive Old Inn, Clevedon. So this where the Clevedon ruffians hang out? Unforgiving carvery, 9/10 carpet, fun beers from places like ‘Halifax’ and a warning of hazy vegans. I’m glad I popped in. Back to Porto next.
Pub 3358, Fallen Tree, Clevedon. 3 hr opening window of opportunity today so thought I’d best get it done early! Outside cos locals line every bench like bad dogs. Chose beer cos I like the song. Portuguese couple looked after by host, nice to see. Sophie ignored.
BRAPA Stat Alert ….. 57 Somerset pubs done, 45 to do after yesterday’s effort. 55.9% complete. Somerset moves ahead of Devon where I need 47. Hampshire is now in its sights. Wot drama here.
Pub 3357, Ship, Portishead. Beautiful Scottish style hotel bar with loads of depth and excellent Bass. Very Redgarth Oldmeldrum and not just saying that cos of nice elderly gent in shirt n tie. Everyone is talking flu n Covid jabs, gives you idea of clientele age. Carpet 8.5
He asked how we wanted the egg, and the options were something like smashed or dashed, and we were so confused!
Good afternoon from sunny Somerset ☀️
Hope you are all well. Got a dicky tummy so hoping this pint will sort me out, one way or the other!
First check in coming up shortly, cos I’m in it.
Cheers Rich, ticked way back 2006 approx. Bloke did something very weird with a bacon n egg sandwich. My main memory 😆
I can confirm. Causes such levels of emo each time it happens, I’m forced to paint my fingernails black.
Great tune!
Looking fwd to it. Tonnes of Leicester pubs still to do, I’ve been very neglectful 😱
I agree! ☝️
Pub 3356, Cross Keys, Combe Down, Bath. Great bar curvature. Everyone pissed. My bacon fries banter was a disaster. But I tried. And going into day 3, what more can you do?
Pub 3355, Packhorse, South Stoke. Restaurant downhill in beautiful countryside selling quality ale. Not a pub! I was encouraged to put the heaters on, warming a posh baby. Barman impressed I saw through his ‘530 pence’ gag. Told to sit outside to enjoy my pint!
