100 years ago: the lifeboat at Port Isaac, Cornwall, was stored at the back of the town and had to be dragged along the main road with just inches to spare whenever it was launched. But at least they didn't have far-right morons protesting against it.

Photograph of a lifeboat being pulled along a narrow village street - the boat looks like it can't possibly fit around the next corner.

Apart from once again proving himself a dead eyed socipath, Jenrick is forcing Reform down a cul-de-sac. "How about war crimes" is not winning 35% of the vote.

A lot of people who really ought to know better¹ seem to be taking "omg, the British benefit system gives you a car for having gluten intolerance" at face value. ¹ for example anyone who works for the wall street journal

Our Rebellion! exhibition exploring protest as part of our cultural identity, in the face of draconian anti-protest legislation, opens on the 23rd of October at the Williamson Art Gallery in Birkenhead.

News from Reform-run Leicestershire. "The concerns raised by parents were supported by Leicester city councillor Zuffar Haq, who attended the protest. The Lib Dem councillor and healthcare campaigner said more than 500 children in Leicestershire who needed specialist education were without places."

I'm gobsmacked by ministers' failure to defend Burnham's claim about Russian interference in Brexit (and Tories' claim that he has no proof of it) when there were well-documented troll farms, funded by Russia, spewing out aggressive pro-Brexit attacks on social media at the time

For St Wilfrid's saint's day today, here's his crypt at Hexham, #Northumberland, one of two remarkable surviving crypts from his churches at Hexham and Ripon. Stones were reused from nearby Roman Corbridge. It feels astonishing to be in the space he would've used 1300 years ago.
