My absolute favourite in Edinburgh is The Pastry Section (in leith and in Stockbridge) I know everyone says Lannan but I love The Pastry Section. I like CottonRake on Great western Road in Glasgow too. I’ll keep thinking x

Is there anything that makes you feel more grown-up than tidying the freezer? Job done, soup and sorbet made from long-forgotten ingredients, and a plan to use things up. I’m pretty sure that means I can lie on the sofa and read for the rest of the day.

D is making us teriyaki chicken and broccoli noodle bowls with a fried egg. Comfort food in front of Ted Lasso is the plan for tonight.

The hesitation! Yes, this exactly. I’ve always been a little cautious but this is something else!

That’s wonderful news.

I realised something today. I’m far less confident in my professional abilities and judgement than I was just a few years ago. I wonder why that is? Is it menopause, maybe? Or stress? Or the havoc that Covid wreaked on the business? I’ve no idea but I need to do something about it.

I haven’t put it down since we set off. I’m thoroughly enjoying it and wishing I’d packed an interesting train picnic.

For the record, I wasn’t wearing denim.
