There are certain things from the past that are so gross to me that I will never watch them, or never watch them again. And they're egregious examples of what I'm talking about. But I can still realize they were made during a different time & not dismiss their significance within the Horror genre.

Yeah, I deliberately haven't read anything since it came out. What I saw was in the lead-up to the release, and was about how he was changing Margaret White. But I trust Flanagan more than anyone else, so, I figured I'd wait and see...

Pretend you're the person you want to be. Because you already ARE, it's just your brain tricking you into thinking you must do some magic steps to get there. Embrace the feeling you get from that name, and wear it proudly. You just need to get used to it. (Just my two cents.)

😆 That's why I'm interested in seeing this "remake," tbh. What is Carrie like in today's world? It's not a remake so much as a modern reworking, and while I am not thrilled with some of the changes (without seeing it, just reading about them) I'm very curious and am keeping an open mind.

it WAS! We can appreciate the contributions to the genre & their collective impact, the trajectory of things that have brought us to *this* point, and understand that we can discuss critically without completely disregarding the works that brought us here, where it's better but still needs work.

I beg of you when watching/reading Horror from the past To do so with the proper understanding of the time & the context of the world & society they were conceived in Almost everything is going to be problematic in some way If you can't acknowledge and then move on from this, don't read/watch it

I'm sorry. I use it to escape all that, but it definitely gets harder to do when reality is so filled with Horror. I hope you are able to find a way back to enjoyment.
