Exactly. They could have designed a modern stylish car that met the brief, like Renault did with the Twingo. The original as you say was designed for a specific role and met that brilliantly.

Yea we have dual carriageways here that have been reduced over time from their original 70 limit to 50 or even 40. Plenty of drivers still hoof along well above the limit though.

There is a world of difference between people who do waver within a mile or so of the limit, and those who wilfully and deliberately ignore the law because they arrogantly think they know better and don't give a toss about anyone else. It's also why police have a small tolerance around the limit.

Yep. In recent years there's been quite a few communities in the UK who want limits lowered because of safety, and the local council basically refuses to. Same with infra such as speed humps or cameras. They'll basically only do it once a few locals have been sacrificed to the driving gods.

Attitudes like this are why we need mandatory speed limiters in vehicles. Does clever boy here just shoplift because he feels a price has no relation to worth? Only when driving do people feel it's fine to ignore the law and be completely anti social. And yes speeding is anti social.
