I guess people are more familiar with photos of the aurora than they are with the actual aurora, so we kind of have to default to the garish edits of folk who send their photos to news and weather websites. It's a conundrum, for sure.

For example, when editing initially I was sure I had gone too far, but then actually no?

Editing aurora pics is always a challenge because you'll never match what your eyes saw, and it becomes a game of "how vibrant can I push this before it looks like I don't know how to edit photos?" Then you go away and vibe back to the same photos and they look flat... 🤔

Video exposure isn't representative of the photos, but you get the general idea. Lots of pillars tonight, not so much wispyness.

I still have b&w chemicals at home, but I decided that my valuation of my own time makes home development and scanning too expensive. So whilst it's never cheap paying someone else to do it, it's still better value. Also, 4/7 were C41 which I'm fairly certain I've vowed to never attempt at home. 😅

A small part of me dies every time I hear the cashier tell me the total for my film development and scanning. 👻 7 rolls today, covering 4 photowalks if my memory serves correctly.

W i d e ! It would be fun to play with something that wide on digital. My widest option is the Zero 45 pinhole at 25mm which is great but I don't use it as much as I'd like to due to practicalities. Occasionally I'm tempted by a fisheye but I know it'll only get novelty use.
