You shouldn't start your day stuck on Bay Parkway.  That's why we're redesigning Bay Parkway and Cropsey Avenue for the 85,000 daily bus riders on the B6, B82, X28 and X38. New bus lanes, faster buses, and safer streets coming soon.

Black text on white page that reads:

For generations, Black faith leaders have been pillars of strength, service, and community across New York City.

This week, I welcomed faith leaders to City Hall for a conversation about the issues facing Black New Yorkers, from affordable housing and unemployment, to education and the uncertainties that Black immigrant communities are navigating.

Their leadership extends far beyond the walls of their congregations, and I look forward to continuing our work to build a city that serves every New Yorker.

I am angry tonight. Because tonight ICE shot a New Yorker. They shot a New Yorker while his five year old child was in the car. ICE makes this city less safe. We want them out. Now.

This afternoon in Marble Hill, a New Yorker was shot by an ICE agent in a residential neighborhood. Early reports indicate agents surrounded him and a 5-year-old child in his car before firing multiple rounds. We believe the child was physically unharmed.

This is an unconscionable and incredibly serious situation. I have called the President; when we speak I will demand that he ends all ICE enforcement actions in our city. I will not stand by while ICE agents terrorize our communities.

Our thoughts are with the injured New Yorker and his family tonight. We are praying for his recovery.

Get ICE out of our neighborhoods. Get ICE out of our hospitals. Get ICE off our streets. Get ICE away from our children.

Abolish ICE.

Black text on white page that states:

When New Yorkers get ripped off, they should have the power to fight back.

We’re introducing the POWER Act to give workers, tenants, consumers, small businesses and nonprofits a legal pathway to take on unfair and deceptive business practices.

A tenant shouldn’t have to watch a landlord wrongfully withhold their security deposit. A consumer shouldn’t have to accept predatory loan terms. And New Yorkers shouldn’t have to rely on government alone to hold powerful corporations accountable.

We’re putting power back where it belongs: in the hands of New Yorkers.

New Yorkers: Do you have a form of immigration relief called withholding of removal? Have you received an ICE letter summoning you to 26 Federal Plaza? Here’s what  you can do:

1. Call our Immigration Legal Support Hotline at 1-800-354-0365, or call 311 and say "Immigration Legal" for free, confidential help in your native language.

2. Fill out our intake form to get help from the Rapid Response Legal Collaborative: nyc.gov/RRLC

3. Make a plan. Make sure you have an emergency contact and that someone you trust has your A-number. Talk to a lawyer before making any decisions.

Hispanic New Yorkers give our city its flavor, sound, & style. Where else do you hear Mixtec & Quechua on the same train? Smell chaufa & champurrado on the same block? See a Dominican barber give a Venezuelan kid a fade, a life lesson, & a new accent in one visit? Last night, we celebrated it all.

Black text on white background
"This day is profoundly painful for so many New Yorkers. It marks three years since the horrific war crimes of October 7. On that day, Hamas killed more than 1,100 Israelis and abducted 251 others. We grieve alongside our many friends and neighbors who still carry that unthinkable loss.

The suffering did not begin nor end that day. It instead continued through the Israeli government’s devastating, ongoing genocide in Gaza, in which it has killed more than 74,000 Palestinians—including more than 21,000 children. Even since the so-called ceasefire, more than 1,400 Palestinians have been killed. That suffering has intensified with every Israeli bomb dropped on ambulances waiting outside hospitals, every drone strike targeting a residential building or journalist, and every shipment of food aid turned away at a border crossing. Many New Yorkers are reckoning with this unbearable grief, and we mourn alongside them – all while knowing that our tax dollars fund these war crimes.

Three years later, we must refuse to accept a world in which occupation and apartheid continue, where war crimes are met with impunity, and our federal government continues its complicity with every arms shipment.

To honor the dead, we must fight for a world in which every person can live with freedom, safety, and dignity."

Today, on World Teachers’ Day, we celebrate the teachers, educators, and child care providers who care for the future of New York and invest in our children every day. New York City doesn’t move without our teachers. We are grateful for their work today and every day.

A city that doesn’t care for its children will fail. Our City’s child care providers do enormously important and difficult work. They deserve our utmost respect and appreciation. This week and every week, we must stand up and support them.
