The war in Iran has shown that Trump’s inability to perceive reality has become truly dangerous. Iran is a disaster, but Trump’s irrationality could create other, even more perilous situations.

Never forget what an absolute loser Tom is

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 5:04 AM

I’m just telling you that your assumptions about me and my life are wrong.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 4:50 AM

I think one difference between us is that I factor in a lot more things than my own lived experience.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 4:49 AM

Your assumptions are wrong all the way around

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 4:10 AM

I spent a lot of years thinking about the things I talk about here, Peter, and one of the reasons that I find it difficult to engage with you is that I don’t think you’ve done that yourself.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:56 AM

Okay. We see it differently.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:55 AM

“Well spent” is a massive load-bearing phrase here

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:43 AM

Noted :)

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:35 AM

Because the voters could see it with their own eyes.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:27 AM

preach

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:26 AM

That last sentence is the key. And there's an argument that more money backfires, because it can get spent on bloating administrative rolls and faddish programs, but sure, *as a general idea*, adding money (for desks, books, etc) can move the needle, but not in the way liberals hope.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:24 AM

We can do better, but it would involve doing things that would likely appall liberals, and no, I'm not going to list them. We had this debate in the 70s/80s, and conservatives lost. (Their answer: Exit the schools and set up their own, mostly white, alternatives.) I am deeply pessimistic on this.

WHAAAAAAAAAAT

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:15 AM

Tell it to the people here who insist that "spending = success" I think it's a stupid idea, but it's a stupid idea that refuses to die no matter how much money we've lit on fire over the past 60 years

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:13 AM

No. I'm going to take some time to fight as well with people who think they should be able to direct my activities on social media

I’ll say it again. The largest influence/indicator of student achievement is parental involvement.

@radiofreetom.bsky.socialOct 11, 2026, 3:12 AM

Where I lived (Willimansett), people could see new housing being built in the 70s in Holyoke that was nicer than the apartments they were living in, and then watched them become slums again that gangs burned down within a decade. It is impossible to explain this to people who did not experience it.
