Bluesky PBC would own the TLD, domains would be owned by anyone who signs up for them.

We thought about sth like .atproto, but feel like all things atproto should be separate from Bluesky PBC.

A little scoop before Oct 7, when ICANN publishes 1,000+ applications for new top-level domains: one of them is .bsky! It's a long road (18 to 24 months), but if it goes through, handles like alice.bsky become possible.

I like it. We're working on a similar experiment. I want to see what the people that I follow on bsky are up to outside of posting. Could be a good way to introduce the Atmosphere to bsky users.
