If you are the subject of dogpiling or harassment, or if you see it happening, please report it to our moderation team by tapping the three-dot icon at the bottom of the posts.
Dogpiling or harassing users is unacceptable. We have taken recent action against accounts for this behavior, and we will be increasing our efforts, consistent with our Community Guidelines.
We've been working to comply with a growing number of age assurance laws around the world. For more information on how we approach this work (and specific information regarding impacted regions) read our constantly-updated blog post.
Texas passed an age assurance law that requires Bluesky to verify the age of users. This law was paused by a judge and then unpaused by an appeals court, so we are preparing to comply.
If you saw an age assurance notice today, that's why. Read about the law here: ccianet.org/news/2026/05...
It’s clear these changes missed the mark, so we’re rolling them back. We’ll be working on a solution that better balances the varying needs of all our users and will provide more information before we roll out additional changes.
We’ve received questions from users about recent changes to the way the app handles account-level moderation labels. The goal of these changes was to reduce accidental exposure of adult content to minors and those who opt out of this content in their personal moderation settings.
A few easy things you can do to protect your account: use a strong, unique to Bluesky password (a password manager helps) and turn on 2FA for both your Bluesky and email accounts. 4/4
3/ To be clear, Bluesky's systems were not breached. Individual user accounts were compromised, likely via credentials leaked in data breaches. Our detection and remediations are fast: most are actioned within hours of their first post. Posts averaged 50 views before takedown. 3/4
Compromising real accounts to spread propaganda is a tactic these actors have used elsewhere for years, but this is the first time we've seen them attempt it on Bluesky. The accounts accessed were mostly older and dormant, though some active accounts were affected too. 2/4
Since May 2025, we've removed 8,526 accounts tied to state-backed influence activity on Bluesky. 4,907 of those takedowns happened in 2026 alone, roughly double the rate we saw in 2025. 1/4 🧵

If your account has been suspended, you can appeal directly within the Bluesky app. Successful appeals restore your account and end any suspension.
If you believe a post was removed in error, you can appeal by emailing [email protected]. Successful appeals restore your content and reverse the associated strike.
Not every violation results in an immediate suspension. Users are notified of infractions and the strikes they’ve accumulated. As strikes accumulate, enforcement escalates from temporary suspensions to a permanent ban.
We use automated systems to help identify repetitive content such as spam. Nuanced violations, such as harassment, always involve human review by our moderation team. No account is suspended or removed without human oversight.
Last year, Bluesky introduced a strike system to help enforce our Community Guidelines and bring greater precision and consistency to our moderation practices. Here’s how it works. 🧵
As a reminder, please do not share information that could help others undermine account security, evade bans or contribute to the spread of spam or potential scam content.
We have found no evidence that our systems have been compromised. If you're concerned about your account, please enable two-factor authentication and reset your password. bsky.social/about/blog/5...
We’re aware of a recent increase in automated spam and account compromises on @bsky.app. We’re actively removing violating content, banning violating users, and working to restore impacted accounts to their rightful owners.
Both issues are now resolved. Automated rules are re-enabled, and systems are operating normally. We’re reviewing additional safeguards to reduce the risk of similar issues in the future. 5/5
