Yes! Saule = sol = sun. Latvian and Lithuanian retain a lot of ancient roots in both the language and the mythology
Yes! It was amazing!
Celebrated Jāņi (midsummer) in Latvia this year! Bonfires and dancing till dawn, flower and oak wreaths, songs about Saule, the sun goddess, that are older than the churches. The Baltics hold a surviving piece of old Europe in living tradition.
i do buy nice old books when i come across them, but yeah these were on display
there is a bookbinder’s museum in SF and they have beautiful old books
