We've been working at this for years, but this is the first time we've got close to animating our second protagonist, ExitGal. This video shows the start of how we're modifying ExitGuy's movement graph and profile to produce this new character. And yes, we've had to follow some stereotypical modifications, but that's just where the signage symbology happens (i.e. the figures from the fire escape and bathroom signs). And there's nothing stopping us having ExitGuy with a dress and ninja stars, or ExitGal with trousers and a battle-staff. We're not quite at v1 here, but we're so close. And once we have the profile looking good, we can start working on the movement modifications. This video shows our admin enhancements that have allowed us to shape ExitGuy to look closer and closer to our design of ExitGal. Both characters will star in the game, and will help towards explaining the story of the XI Terminus.
This is a video to let off a bit of steam. We've added a lot recently, and been documenting many features we've been working on for years. So, no big reveal here. This video shows our various admin tools we've constructed to help us achieve our goals: Studio (animator), Bridges (action graph), Profile (character appearance), etc... The fact that it is shot with brilliant soul-rising background music, just helps us to keep going —and is a window into our world. Coding, designing and building all whilst listening to our favourite playlists is how things get done. Except when we're creating and capturing sound fxs, of course, that would be weird.

This video shows the work we've put towards bringing the bot enemies into the game. We still have a long way to go, and it has already taken quite a while... but we aren't quitting any time soon. The video shows a dark stick figures chasing our main player in white.

This has always been the plan from the start, that you'll be up against bad guys with similar abilities to yourself. Whilst that does save us having to create new characters for the game (we spent so long perfecting our main character that we might as well benefit from all that work) it doesn't make everything easy.

For now we're focusing on level navigation. But soon we'll be starting on the fight orchestration. But first, we really need to work out how to get the bots to climb ladders.

Screen recording of Birdsong guessing game 'Dawn Chorus Quest.' Over a background image of a wild forest at dawn, there is a sparkly colourful songwave, on which sits a long tailed tit. This is your guide, Pip, who 'for expositional reasons is 12,000 years old.' The recording shows the player choosing accessibility options for larger text and birdsong descriptions.
