A diminutive doll-like girl hangs in midair against a grainy teal-gray void. Her body is built from slender twig limbs, a pale porcelain face with wide dark eyes, flushed cheeks, and an open mouth. Fine dark hair stands out as if caught by wind. She wears a rust-red knitted bodice and a skirt of raw, fluffy cotton tufts. Her raised right hand grips the long green stem of an enormous dandelion seed head; translucent white parachutes radiate from the dark center, many already broken free and drifting down and left. Her left arm is flung wide, legs kicked back in a flying stride, thin black shoes pointing downward. Soft directional light picks out the seeds and the texture of the cotton while the background stays muted and atmospheric. A weathered wooden surface appears only at the lowest edge of the earliest view.
