A short video of young sister deer resting in the yard on an autumn evening. Mae lies down and begins chewing her cud, an uncommon and peaceful sight. The camera pans to her sister Daisy, already resting in her favorite spot, then returns to Mae, whose eyes are soft and relaxed. The gentle music, “Meadow Folk Lullaby,” accompanies this quiet moment of deer at rest.
A squirrel named Sasquatch approaches NanLeah on a wooden deck, leaps onto her thigh, and accepts a peanut smeared with peanut butter. He jumps down and the viewer can hear him licking the peanut butter from the peanut before he runs off to stash it.
Two young black-tailed deer, now four months old, their spotted coats gone, stand close to a person on rainy wooden steps. Mae stands directly in front of the person, gently sniffing an offered hand and stretching, while her twin sister Daisy walks behind her. The moment is quiet and intimate, with the deer and person calmly regarding one another.
A green Pacific Northwest tree frog sits calmly in the small opening at the bottom of a terra-cotta colored hanging flower pot while water flows out beneath and around it. Only part of the flower pot and the dripping water are visible. The frog remains perfectly still in its little makeshift water feature.
A video of Mama, a wild doe, during an afternoon visit. She stands a few feet away in sunlight, scratches her right ear with her back foot, and then walks toward NanLeah, who is sitting in the shade. Mama comes so close that her nose touches the camera; her whiskers fill the frame and you experience her breath as she sniffs curiously . NanLeah’s shadow can be seen reaching toward Mama’s ear. The video ends as Mama steps away after lingering for several seconds.
Drew, a black-and-white cow cat, lies on his back nestled in a colorful duvet, eyes closed and paws relaxed. His hind feet rest on the edge of a writing portfolio visible at the bottom of the frame. A second cat, his brother, Aiden, looks toward him from nearby.
Video of a 3½ month old doe, approaching a person without her mother nearby. Her twin sister watches from behind. The young deer takes a slice of apple from the person's hand and nuzzles the person's fingers. A few faded white baby spots remain visible on her shoulders and haunches as her winter coat begins to grow in.
Golden chanterelle mushrooms emerge from beneath green moss on the forest floor. Some are barely visible, their golden caps peeking through the moss, while one prominent chanterelle has a deeply fluted, wavy cap with its delicate ridges visible.
