our protagonist, sarah, talking to a spartacus-looking guy in a sci-fi setting (they're on an alien spaceship, but that's not important right now). she is angry. he says "i was letting it tire itself out. if it had slain you, i would have been well-rested and easily avenged your death." sarah takes the metal pipe she's holding and sweeps the leg, knocking spartacus to his back, and points it at his throat. "being an avenger is stupid," she tells him. "the goal is to prevent death. i am a preventer. you wanna join the preventers, sparty?"
we cut back and forth from nate, on his scooter investigating stolen goods, to behrad, standing in the street waiting to see bad guys, to ava and zari on the ship. nate rushes in and starts trying to open a crate. behrad hears a strange noise and asks aloud what it is. cut back to nate who has pried open a crate and made a horrific discovery -- the crate is full of scooters! "khan!!" he rages, for reasons that will become clear in a moment. the women on the ship look horrified. cut back to behrad, who sees someone emerging from the mist -- it's ghengis khan! and he's on a scooter! the world will never be the same...
