In the first book, a pink kitten admires unicorns and makes herself a horn. She finds her kindred spirit: A unicorn who wears kitty ears! The book is about embracing what makes us unique. In the next book, the unicorn learns Kitty will still accept him even if he has paint all over his horn, ears, hooves, and tail. A library advisory council in Texas voted unanimously to remove the second book because at one point, the unicorn accidentally sits in paint and feels ashamed about his “paint bum.” We personally found this hilarious. Many of the banners are also worried about the unicorn being male, because unicorns are not supposed to be for 'boys.' We could not care less and believe all kids should get to enjoy unicorns. 🦄 Author: Shannon Hale Illustrator: LeUyen Pham The graphic shows an illustrated unicorn and paintbrush popping out from behind the covers of "Itty-Bitty Kitty-Corn" and "Pretty Perfect Kitty-Corn." The text above says "Let kids read" and the text below says "Why We Loved These Books Banned for Itty-Bitty Reasons."
