Egyptian Geese are an introduced species in Florida that can compete with native waterfowl for resources at Lakes Park. Observed one preening near the grassy edge today, showing off those chestnut eye patches.
Huge white wood stork preening by Paloma Lake in Dunedin FL. Dunedin is located on the St Joseph Sound on the Gulf of Mexico. This wood stork was unfazed as I watched him clean his feathers for 20+ minutes. The Mallard ducks photobombing him at the end is adorable. He was unfazed by them waddling by, but clearly the ducks wanted their moment at well. I was close enough that I could hear his bill clacking as he meticulously groomed his feathers.
