Sen. Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Sept. 30, 2026: "The other piece that is still outstanding is the question of returning to regular order for wind and solar projects in the Trump administration. And that is unresolved, but we have had what I would consider to be a very reasonable opening proposal from the Trump administration. We need more clarity on that, and when we have more clarity on that, they'll be back and forth to try to resolve those issues that will happen in parallel with the amendment work, and we look forward to good results on that. Um, I think there's reason for concern on a lot of people's parts about how that will work, but I do think that the way in which the White House staff 2 words. negotiated with us was not outside the bounds of ordinary legislative disagreement. And the initial proposal they made was a signal that they want to land this in good faith. And most importantly, we have solid bipartisan support that that needs to get done, which is not just hypothetical, but was actually tested when our offshore wind farms got blockaded and Republican colleagues came to the support of those projects and helped us move them forward. So it is a tested proposition that senators will work together in bipartisan fashion to solve that, and that gives me confidence about getting that solved in the weeks ahead."
