HSR service cancellations worsening this morning as managers failed to order bus parts.

The City Manager's Office is following the same misleading playbook used during the Cootes sewage, Red Hill safety, and the Barton/Tiffany fiascos.

No other municipality fails at order bus parts #yhmcc #HamOnt

Here is my feedback:

How about directing the HSR's Senior Director to do their job and restore full scheduled services plus school specific trips?

HSR customer service and communications managers should be ordered back to scheduled work schedules. It is not 2020 COVID anymore. #yhmcc #hamont

The City of Hamilton promised to repave Dundurn Street South between King Street and Main Street.

The City said the work be done by October 2, 2026.

and .... then the City did not award the contract for the work until October 6.

Follow-up story now on TPR. #yhmcc

One of the key people hired by the City of Hamilton to respond to its Feb 2024 cybersecurity failure has been arrested by the FBI in the United States, as a "suspected co-conspirator" of a collective of hackers.
I will STRESS that the allegations are unproven untested. #yhmcc

In the Hamilton encampment bylaw decision, Ontario's Court of Appeal states the Hamilton Superior Court decision was full of errors, the Hamilton justice incorrectly "perpetuates myths and stereotypes," and the decision is such that the ONCA cannot use it to deal with broader matters. #onmuni #yhmcc

Ontario's Court of Appeal has ruled that Hamilton Superior Court Justice James Ramsay "made a series of errors" in deciding the Hamilton encampment litigation.

His December 2024 ruling is quashed.

The errors are such that the Court of Appeal is ordering a redo of the entire encampment case. #yhmcc

A screencapture, with alt-text, of my "hot take" summary from tonight's Hamilton mayoral debate. #yhmcc #yhmvote

thepublicrecord.ca/2026/10/live...

And that’s it for the open floor tonight.

Gillespie had a very good night: got the most airtime, denounced Paul Fromm, touched on key campaign points, and is now clearly established as a key leader of Hamilton’s progressive-left.

Cooper had a bad night: had to be on the defense repeatedly, should’ve been prepared for the women’s productive rights questions, office budget. Instead, deflection and redirection did not work. Cooper needed to win the centre-right, and establish as the outsider candidate with inside knowledge. Did not do this.

Loomis had a good night, was well prepared, ready for the challenge/uncomfortable questions. But the USW 7135 endorsement statement seemed unclear, and depending on what the union says, we’ll see what happens. Loomis needed to have a safe night as the likely frontrunner (based on last year’s Liaison Strategies poll), and pretty much did.

Horwath had a good night as well. The incumbent mayor, Horwath had to defend a record. As an incumbent, the goal is to avoid gaffes and uncomfortable responses. The clip of Horwath saying “I’m outta here” is not a clear gaffe in that most people watching this televised debate were sharing the same feeling regarding the free-for-all talking over each other format.

Hamilton City Council is now back in open session.

This is the final meeting of this council term.

Much as been the case for the past four years, I'm the only non-City person here.

I will post remaining updates for today here on Bluesky. #yhmcc

I am in the Council Chamber at City Hall. There is a man yelling from the gallery at City Council with a series of conspiracy theories.

City Hall security managers are working to de-escalate the situation. Thus far, they are working to allow him to remain, if he stops yelling. #yhmcc #HamOnt

HSR service cancellations continue this afternoon.

Note: The General Manager of Public Works and the senior HSR Director both continue to falsely claim the HSR is having widespread computer issues, and that HSR real-time data is inaccurate. #HamOnt #yhmcc

I have manually verified the accuracy of HSR real-time data. All buses that passed me during the past hour at King and MacNab were transmitting accurate data. The three downtown cancellation alerts were all accurate, the buses never appeared. #HamOnt #yhmcc

@joeycoleman.caOct 2, 2026, 8:03 PM

According to the HSR Director, this photo shows a 20 A-Line bus. HSR real-time data states this bus is not operating. However, the HSR Director says the real-time data is wrong.

What are we to believe? Our eyes and the data, or the HSR Director? #yhmcc
