this story is just one of many examples of how executive dysfunction, time blindness, working memory deficits, etc. affect my day-to-day life.

Noisy memories should drift toward the past. We show the opposite: when the attentional blink degraded a target, its #WorkingMemory representation is pushed further away from the one before. Less attention boosts repulsive serial dependence. #visionscience

Do the contents of visual #WorkingMemory deteriorate more quickly when more items are being remembered? Seems a straightforward question but we had to bring together 13 studies and >120,000 trials to get definitive answers... doi.org/10.1037/rev0...

Remembering and waiting may be different prefrontal jobs. In two monkeys, reduced prefrontal activity caused more early gaze breaks while target direction stayed accurate.

Japanese painterly NSR cover showing a recognizable dorsolateral prefrontal cortical target; a delay-period fixation gate; and increased breaks across tasks while directional-choice arrows remain stable. The canonical explorer holds position at the delay gate and notes when gaze paths break before the choice. A small washi banner reads Neuroscience Research.

「覚えておく」と「合図まで待つ」は、同じ脳の働きでしょうか。2頭のサルで前頭前野の一部を一時的に抑えると、覚えた方向は保てた一方、待機中に視線を外す失敗が増えました。

Another highlight today: Xiao-Jing Wang received the '26 Valentin Braitenberg Award for his outstanding contributions to #CompNeuro, from neural circuit models of #WorkingMemory & #DecisionMaking to #ComputationalPsychiatry. Congratulations👏

What controls the information we hold in mind and how does the brain manage it? Dr. Postle of the University of Wisconsin-Madison explores the science of working memory in “Controlling the Contents of Working Memory.”
