[ Gelmorra Ruins — The Dire Deepcroft ] The voidsent known to All Saints' Wake partygoers as "Philcox" stands disguised, with hands on hips, surveying his surroundings for players of an ongoing game of hide-and-seek. His determined frown is belied by an amused grin. "Heh," he chuckles, "Another year of All Saints' mischief. Sure beats being stuck on the Thir—"His private mutterings are interrupted by a collision with a foreign object from behind. It is lumpy, warm, and giggling. It is Mariko Kazama, dressed in her favorite seasonal costume (as an anthromorphic red wolf in a black skirt). Her left eye's limbal ring flashes with mischievous delight.Mariko throws her arms around Philcox's neck, and entwines her legs over his hips. "You know," she coos into his hear as he slouches, stunned, "there's just something so satisfying about hearing someone say you're going to forget about them, and then getting a chance to prove them wrong."With her voice giving him the clue he needed, Philcox relaxes into Mariko's embrace. "Well, well..." he sighs. "Of all the troublemakers in all the land, I'm happy to see it was you." Mariko's smile shifts to feigned worry. "I do so hope you haven't reverted to your native ways," she enunciates in the manner of a defenseless damsel, "thirsty for the aether of innocent souls. Please tell me you've returned to seek out the sweet experience of mortal gratitude." Philcox tries to turn his head to face her, but the angle is impossible. Mariko stretches to whisper directly into his ear: "I think you'll find I know of quite a few entertaining little games that will have me showing you all sorts of gratitude."

[ Perfect Flow Company Manse — Upstairs Lounge ] Mariko Kazama lies on one of the L-shaped couches, her head and shoulders propped on the large pillow in the corner, scrolling on her Garlond tomephone. Margot Weisshexer sits on the other end of the long part of the L, reading a book. Mariko is surprised by what she sees. She mutters, "Gods above! How does this keep happening?" Turning her hand over to reveal the screen to her friend, she calls out, "Margot, look at this! Who is this? How is this possible?"We look closely at the screen, and it depicts a red-headed highlander woman who looks very similar to Margot — even wearing her hair in a style that Margot formerly chose — lying on a beach, her head propped up on her hands, her skin glistening in the twilight. This not-Margot wears a very confident smile as she gazes at the viewer. Margot ... overreacts. Her "What?" begins as a befuddled whisper and endures through a long crescendo, culminating in a horrified scream.
