No justice. Agnes Emma-Nnopu saves a ball going out of bounds by pushing it onto Lucy Cochrane but the ball comes back onto her yet the call stays Sydney ball. Flames, or more like Loz Nicholson, have been able to grind their way home. Sydney by 4 with 0.7 a second to play. Incredible game #wnbl

Sydney on a 9 straight run to bring South’s lead back to 4 and I’m still screaming to them to pass the ball to Izzy Bourne in transition. Cannot understate how important this run for the Flames has been #wnbl

The 2 Chinese imports have spent plenty of time matched up against each other & their ability to generate their own offence is really mouth watering. These teams have made really smart decisions recruiting from big markets in Asia & these two look like being two of better guards in the league #wnbl

What a half of ball. The “Fearless Flyers”. Madi Ryan is going to end up my favourite player in the damn league and she’s not even old enough to attend a R rated movie. Southside have taken complete control with their effort & efficiency. Emma-Nnopu unsuprising 5 off Reb (9 total) in 1st half #wnbl

Even if South lose this, this first half by South Melbourne has been unreal. Sydney genuinely miss Ally Wilson. When South force turnovers they look marvellous in transition. All 6’6” of Lucy Cochrane is balling the fuck out #wnbl

Tess Heal has driven right and finished with a last hand scoop on three different occasions! Teams are gonna have to wake up to the fact you cannot go under the screen when the ball is in Yang Shiyu or Jaz Shelley’s hands. Rainy Wang looks slight but she’s slowly taking control. Syd by 2 #wnbl

Syd up after 1 26-25. What a showpiece! Tessa Heal trying to prove she’s the best ex-Stanford Cardinal on the floor. 17 year old Madi Ryan, only just signed by South, with a debut basket & some boards. Some really good Lucy Cochrane mins. Jaz Shelly showing her step back game. This is HOT #wnbl

This reminds me of last nights game. Express train offence to start, shots are getting up fast. Renae Garlepp offence looks real nice. Tess Heal & Hannah Hank going to work for South. Big crowd. How good is women’s basketball in Australia? #wnbl

Rainy Wang vs Wang Shiyu. Sydney vs (South) Melbourne. Big game rivalry in round one. I think Sydney, who roll so deep, will begin their title challenge with a win #wnbl

Tasmania Jewels zwyciężają w powrocie do WNBL

Final score Tas 103-Gee 90. What a score line for the opening game. Rocci had a career high for the Venom. Tassie with 4 girls with 17+. Tassie with a big win in the rebounding battle. Maybe if Indi Bowyer had have got her game started earlier than the 2nd half, this might have been closer #wnbl

Tassie need to slow this game down because Geelong are feeding with this end to end style game. Rocci up to 28. Tassie by 9 with under 4 to play. Geelong to push full court and get shots at the rim without a pass. Both teams need to work on their transition d #wnbl

20 of Tasmania’s 39 rebounds have been offensive #wnbl

Steph Reid (10 Pts, 5 asts) vs Maddi Rocci (21 pts, 6 Reb, 4 asts) has been the heavyweight bout this league loves. Extraordinary back and forth between these two feisty team leaders #wnbl

Indiah Bowyer has come alive and Geelong were desperate for something from someone not named Rocci or Cole. Geelong full court defence has lifted. Tassie still look good in transition at times. Tassie with a 17 point lead with a couple of mins to play in the 3rd #wnbl

Tassie are just getting whatever they want. They look so sharp in their sets. The franchise’s first game in the competition! 53 points with 2 mins to play in the 2nd #wnbl

Brooke Basham has cult hero written all over here. She is a walking bucket. 11 pts & 3 steals with 5 & 1/2 left in the 2nd. Her defence has been amazing. Her strength stands out. Geelong wanted to go to a 2-3 zone and Basham’s floor stretching saw the Venom immediately revert back to on ball d #wnbl

Damon Lowery special commentary has been amazing so far. Steph Reid operating in the pick and roll is so effective & the commentary are all over it and talking about how hedging on defence would help #wnbl

I was worried about Kneepkens dribble.. she just brought the ball up court, was trapped past the half way, and snake dribbled through 3 defenders all the way to a lay up. Unreal #wnbl

I didn’t think Tas had the same backcourt shooting chops but Reid, Basham & Kneepkens are rolling. They are accurate from deep 3 or in the mid range. Tassie gave Garbin lots of touches early. Really back & forth. Geelong need to clean up some of their dribble hand offs & screens. Tas by 9 #wnbl
